The nightmares just begun
And the world begins to quake
And he will not look back to me
As my hands begin to shake
He's leaving me again
One last and final time
He would not give a reason
I do not know my crime
'What have I done to you?
What have I not yet said?
Why are you so angry and
Leaving me for dead?'
I see the patterns form
Around my cheeks and face
As the tears begin to fall
And I watch him pick up pace
'Please turn around and look at me'
I cannot help but scream
As my throat begins to tighten
And my blood begins to stream.
'What have I done to you?
What have I not yet said?
Why are you so angry and
Leaving me for dead?'
I call out to his stomping feet
His fists are clenched in rage
And as I slowly start to die
He's drifting off the page
Then I wake in a cold sweat
And flail with the cruel air
And pray that he has not left
Please let him still be there.
And while I fight to breathe
Your arms around my waist
Cause me to jump and fumble
With the hands that move in haste
You pin me to the pillow
And press your lips to mine
Until I breathe again
And you fall back with a whine
'This cannot happen every night'
You plead to me from sleep
I'm growing tired of your terror
Is what I hear - I weep.
You tug me in your arms
And hold me to your chest
'I cannot help but love you
But, babe, I need my rest.'
As I listen to your heartbeat settle
My mind is whirring, dazed,
I cannot dream of him again
It's leaving me too crazed
Your arms that hold me safe
Your mind that knows my ways
I cannot help but love you too
But he's dragging up a haze
I'm over him all of the time
Except for in my dreams
Where you are not around
And he won't hear me screams...
