Ok I've been thinking about this whole holiday charity thing, and I realized that it is a stupid waste of time. Now hear me out I do charity work all year round and I love doing it, but all these charities that happen only during Christmas are a sad excuse for charity. I mean why the hell would you only give food too the poor at only one time of the year and not the rest of the year, it doesn't make sense. I mean what the hell are the people supposed to do the rest of the year, starve? That's like feeding your dog just to shoot him a day later! People get real if you are going to feed the poor or give clothing to the poor then do it with something that does it all year round like a soup kitchen,(which I did yesterday and I do a lot of the year) or help at a food bank like the ones in Atlanta, Georgia, but this half assed excuse of charity work is just a waist of time and money. I will tell you this just helping during Christmas so you can say you have done a good dead is bull s**t, if you are going to help people do it all year. Hell I put in 700 hours of voluntary community service last year alone! I was out last summer for two weeks on one of the most dangerous streets in my town(it is Wolf street in Brunswick GA), by my self often as not, for hours at a time clear cutting vacant lots so people wouldn't get mugged in them because the huge kudzu vines made it impossible to see what was happening. I will say this right now, cutting threw 8 feet of kudzu with 4 people a brush cutter and a hedge trimmer is a pain in the a**, and after 4 days it still wasn't done!! So don't say, I do plenty of charity and wine about it being dangerous, or to hard. I could see ******** drug deals going down 200 feet from were I was working!! I led a group of people who were tearing down a ******** house and stopped a kid just before the roof collapsed on his head! A natural gass pipe broke near were I was working and I stayed back to make sure that every one got out of the toxic fumes before I even thought about leaving. That is doing real charity work, I know donations are important but at lest try to do more than that please. I don't expect every one do work at it as hard a I do but at least donate to something that helps all year and keep donating, and when you can, go out and help the people who are doing the work. Believe me when I say that it is a wonderful thing to see the faces of those you are helping light up with gratitude when you actually hand them the food, when you give the child his/her toy, when you repaint and fix a house for an old lady who can hardly walk much less do the repairs her self, and when the owners of a daycare center thank you for clearing the empty lot across from the daycare where people were getting mugged and murdered on a regular basis.
Basically what I am trying to say is this if you donate donate to a charity that helps all year round, but don't just donate get out there and do the work, serve the food, paint the houses, save the lives.
