I wrote this in creative writing today and really liked it. A friend of mine says I should read it to my daughter if i ever have one :]

Open your eyes, little one, and take your first glimpse of the world. See the rolling green hills, the towering cities, the deepest blue oceans. Breathe in the air, feel the sun on your skin, and revel in what has been created for you.
Open your eyes, little one, and see the people of this world. Many of them will want to see you fail. As you climb up the mountain of life, they will reach for your ankles with grabbing claws and try to pull you down. But hold on to the rocks, hold firm and continue to climb. For carrying their weight will make you stronger when you reach the top.
Open your eyes, little one, and experience this thing called love. Let it surround you. Let it be the light in the darkness. There are people in this world that when you slip and begin to tumble down the mountain, will be there with outstretched arms to catch you. And one day, you will find the one person who is there to catch you more than the others are. He will pull you to your feet and brush you off, escorting you to the top. And when you reach the top and have finished your journey, he will be there to hold your hand as you begin the next challenge.
Open your eyes, little one, and see life for what it is. Yes, it is fleeting, which is why you must hold it tight and never be afraid to live it the way you want. So go on, dance to your favorite song, get dirty, fall in love. Because when you reach the top of the mountain and are ready to take those steps to the sky, I want you to look back down over the edge and say, "that was a climb worth taking."
