Shinji is a natural born fighter, but is not as noble. He has a short temper and is very stubborn. When he met Yume, he was shocked to see her in such a backwater town, and kidnapped her while he was on the run.
He was known as a thief in the town where Natsu's mansion is. Shinji really hates Natsu because he sees him as a weak version of himself, who also loves Yume.
Shinji later discovers that the love he felt towards Yume was just superficial because she seemed beautiful in his eyes. After he met Konata, he seems more calm and not as temper mental.
He has a soft spot for clumsy girls and seems like a Prince of hypocrisy because he thinks that a weak girl will make him feel more superior and stronger.
Shinji is very skilled with axes, maces, broad swords, long swords, and hunter swords, but he's not very good with far-range weapons because he is a forward attacker.
