Two things only, I promise.

1. Put some thought into it.
You are entering in an arena for votes/favorites/e-fame. You obviously care enough to put together a nifty outfit for your avatar. Now, when Gaia takes a snapshot of your avatar for the arena, I wish you'd give them something worthwhile. There should be some kind of balance between elements, a theme in your outfit, and it should look at least semi-professional. If you're dressing up as a fire spirit, don't have blue objects or water around your avatar's feet, y'know?

2. Make your description work for you.
Your description, personally, is half of what I rate you on. Two things make me decide whether or not your descrip is worthwhile for a good vote.
• Does it tell a story? I like descriptions that tell short stories that reflect upon the avatar itself. So not only should it be a decent story that is interesting and relates to your outfit, you should keep in mind the basic tenets of writing: punctuation; grammar; spelling, coherency.
• Does it offend my intelligence? Are you yelling at me to vote? Calling me an idiot if I rate below 5/5? Are you threatening to follow me to my profile and leave rude messages? Also, is your description poorly written and poorly spelled? All of these things have caused me to rate very low in the past. I've even had someone PM me rude things because I left them some con crit about their avatar (keep in mind, I report idiots. I have no qualms about reporting some fool trying to harass me over an avatar rating).
So, I hope you keep these points in mind as you consider your first or next foray into the avatar arenas. This post may seem all ~serious business~ but really, the arenas are meant to be fun. They are fun and very enjoyable.
It doesn't mean you can't care, either.
Peace out ♥
