i found this on deviant art, i loved it!
Kakuzu watched his partner through half lidded eyes as he slaughter the ninja of their enemy. He leaned casually against the tree as blood splatter up into the jashinist's face, which was carefully emotionless. This is of itself was unusual, it was not his usual look of pure euphoria he had when he killed...it was delicately blank. But what really caught Kakuzu's attention was the slight tremor to Hidan's hands as he held his three bladed weapon. And through all the blood and the violence the albino still managed to look absolutely beautiful...angelic even. Kakuzu closed his eyes to rid himself of the thought and the image, it did not take long before he heard footsteps approaching. He cracked one lid to see Hidan standing before him.
"Ready to go, a*****e?" he asked, his silver hair still perfect despite the fight.
Kakuzu nodded and shrugged away from the tree.
“Mission complete.” He commented as he caught the scroll Hidan tossed in his general direction.
“Its ******** cold.” Hidan complained several hours later…
They were still a nights journey from the base and Kakuzu was already near fed up with the mans constant whining. Any concerns he had held as he watched the albino’s unusual behavior during his most recent slaughter (from which he was still covered in blood) had vanished and left him with his usual annoyance and simmering anger. He tugged on his mask as he did whenever he was about to shout at his partner and was surprised when said man fell silent in the middle of a sentence. He glanced over to see Hidan staring at the ground beneath his feet, that same look of blank indifference firmly back in place. Kakuzu slowly tore his gaze away from the insanity of it and tried unsuccessfully to forget his partner was there.
“Hey…Kakuzu?” He heard Hidan mutter a moment later.
Kakuzu twitched his head in the albino’s direction to show he was listening and then proceeding walking at a steady pace while awaiting the question. It took a moment before Hidan spoke.
“Do you ever…regret?” He spoke slowly.
Kakuzu glanced over in surprise, he had been expecting another complaint. The Jashinist’s eyes were still locked on the ground, the violet irises intense and thoughtful. Kakuzu shook his head.
“Where the hell did that come from, idiot?” he inquired casually. He stumbled forward as a rock hit the back of his head.
“I’m going to ******** k--”
“What? Kill me!!! Go ahead and try b*****d! I won’t even try to ******** stop you!” the immortal screamed, rage and some other unidentifiable emotion twisted his beautiful features.
Kakuzu growled indistinctly and turned to stride away quickly, half hoping for some unknown reason the Jashinist was following, the other half wishing for nothing more then the invincible mans demise.
It had been several weeks since the duo returned from their retrieval mission and everything was back to normal in Kakuzu’s opinion, to bad he wasn’t very observant. The money whore sat in the ‘living room’ of the base and poured over one of his many account lists, only vaguely aware of Hidan and Sasori in the room with him, that is until the puppet came over and tapped him on his shoulder.
“What?” he growled, irritated at the interruption from his work.
The red haired puppeteer sat down next to him on the couch and stared at him with only a hint of intenseness in his eyes.
“Look at Hidan.” he said quietly.
Kakuzu glanced curiously over at the albino. He was sitting in a corner of the room, his back resting against a bookcase, staring out of a small hole in the rock that constituted at a window. He looked as beautiful as ever, but Kakuzu didn’t see anything new worth noticing.
“What about the idiot?” he demanded, turning back to the slight red headed figure beside him.
Sasori frowned.
“Look closer.” he demanded.
Kakuzu turned his lips downward in annoyance and turned again to study the immortal more closely. It took him a moment before he noticed….Hidan’s violet irises were dim and listless…his perfectly sculpted mouth turned into a slight grimace of pain. Kakuzu thought suddenly of a fallen angel as he stared at the man. As if reading his mind Sasori spoke.
“A fallen angel destined to fly…broken and crazy but too strong to cry.” he muttered before standing up and turning away. “Your fighting affects him more then you know…I had to learn that the hard way with Deidara, I suggest you fix it now before its too late.” he added over his shoulder.
“Hidan’s not fragile, like Deidara.” Kakuzu said, still mostly focused on his partner…who appeared to be in minor agony right then.
“How can you say that when you see him as he is now?” without waiting for a response the puppet strode out of the room, leaving Kakuzu alone with him partner.
The scarred man stood and walked over to his partner, sitting next to him and removing his mask so that his face was exposed. This he would have never done if anyone but the albino remained in the room.
“Hidan?” he asked quietly, when it didn’t seem his partner had noticed him. The albino glanced over. “Are you okay?” Kakuzu inquired in what was for him a gentle tone.
“I’m sorry.” the immortal blurted suddenly, fixing his eyes on the ground. “I’m sorry I complain and cuss. I’m sorry that I irritate you and I’m very sorry you hate me. I’m really, really, ********.” his voice broke on the last word but no tears fell from his beautifully agonized eyes.
“Hidan…” Kakuzu pulled the smaller man into his lap without a moments thought. He buried his unmasked face in the silver hair as his partner buried his face in his chest. “I don’t hate you…” Kakuzu murmered against his partners head.
Hidan’s breath hitched as he fought back the suppressed sobs that were shaking his body. Kakuzu rocked the man gently as he fell apart before him. Hidan was, though Kakuzu had never said it out loud, the strongest person he had ever met. He had been to hell and back and still stayed strong as who he was and in his faith. And he himself had reduced the immortal to this…a broken shell that tried desperately to keep himself patched together.
“My god…” Kakuzu moaned against the silver strands of silky hair. “What have I done to you?”
