The Plan Unfolds
Nero and I watched as Delila walked up to her house and started the water works. She started wailing so that everybody in and around her house could hear. Tears started streaming down her face. Wow, she's a pretty good actor. It practically impossible for me to create tears that fast on cue. Just as planned, a lot of the guys guarding the house came running and grabbed her. "We've got one of the fugitives." I heard one of them speak into a walkie-talkie. But, also as planned, Delila's mother came running out when she heard Delila's crying, and when she saw them trying to cuff Delila, she went ballistic! "YOU LET GO OF MY BABY!!! SET HER DOWN!!! SET HER DOWN!!!" She ran up in her robe and slippers and started pounding her way through the security to her daughter. She collapsed to her knees and hugged Delila tight, crying herself when she finally had her daughter in her arms again. "DON'T YOU EVER LEAVE ME AGAIN!! DON'T YOU SCARE ME LIKE THAT!!! I NEARLY DIED WHEN I SAW YOU WEREN'T THERE!!!" Delila's mom wailed relentlessly while squeezing her child.
Then, Delila started to put the rest of the plan into action. "Mom, don't believe anything they say! If they said I ran away, their wrong! The kidnapped me Mom! They knocked me out and took me to this torture place in the capitol!! I was so scared! I thought I was going to die!! MOOOM!!!" Delila cried. And just as expected, Delila's mom became infuriated. "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!??!?!?! THAT'S IT!!! EVERYBODY GET OFF OF MY PROPERTY!!! I'LL HAVE YOUR HEADS!! YOU BE SURE OF THAT!!! NOBODY TOUCHES MY BABY GIRL!!! I'LL MAKE SURE YOU'RE ALL LOCKED UP FOR WHAT YOU DID TO HER!!!" she suddenly screamed at the top of her lungs. Wow, she must've really scared the crap out of them if all these armed soldiers are all leaving like she said. Among them, was General McCarber. What's he doing here? He stopped next to Delila's mom before he finally left. I heard him say something to her. "You may have won for now, but we'll be back. I still have some...questioning for you daughter." He said. "GET OFF MY PROPERTY!!" Delila's mom screamed back in his face. And so he got into his car and left after that.
After about twenty minutes of Delila's mom crying and hugging her daughter in her pajamas on the front lawn, the she finally brought Delila inside. "Well, so far so good." I noted. Nero nodded. "And now, we wait." he added. And so we sat down there on the roof, waiting for Delila's call. It was a pretty awkward silence because neither of us said a word. Though Nero seemed kinda fidgety. He'd look at me then quickly look away, then he'd get up and walk around the roof and stretch a little bit, then sit back down again. I gotta say, it was a little annoying. But then, Nero's cell finally rang after about four hours. He quickly flipped it open, seeming relieved that something interrupted his sitting next to me. "Hello?" he asked. "Hey, Kyle? It's me, Delila." I heard through the phone. " Oh, hey, sup? Are we still on for the movie Friday?" he asked in code. I held my breath for a second while waiting for her answer. "Sure, can't wait." I heard her say. Yes!! "Well, I have to go, my Dad's telling me I need to take out the trash." Nero said quickly, and he hung up. "The coast is clear, you can go back in." Nero said. "YES!!!" I hit the air with a fist. "Well, I'll see you around then." Nero said. It was hard to tell, but I thought I could sense a little tone of sadness in his voice. Then he turned around and started leaping across the rooftops back toward Devil May Cry.
After he had left, I looked around to make sure there weren't any more guards, and when I found none, I leaped over to Delila's window and climbed in. She was in there sitting on her bed. "So, are we good now?" I asked her. She nodded. "Ya, but I'm grounded now. I can't go anywhere for two weeks except for school. I'm to come immediately home." She said glumly. "Wow....sucks." I noted. "Well...I'd think it's best if we just get some sleep and forget about this for a while. I nodded in agreement. So I went into the closet and laid down on my bed. Drifting quickly off to sleep.
