I will cosplay Fran from FFXII at (hopefully) San Japan, and with my shortcuts and whatnot, it should be a snap, relatively cheap and fun. ^_^ I'm so freaking excited.
So.... UNTIL TOMORROW!
Well, here goes update number one!
Today I went out to Michael’s and Walmart to gather some on my materials. Here they are as follows:
One pair of Stockings, in Suntan. ($3.50)
One Child’s Large Black Leotard ($8.00)
7 Sheets of black Foam Paper ( @ $.99 a piece = $7.00)
2 Boards of White poster board @ $.59 a piece = a little more than $1.00)
The stockings are going to be soooooo important, and you’ll find out more later. And I was happy they were cheap! It’s not about my skin tone, I think I’m fine there, but I have a reason for them. ^_~
Now, I’m not a short person (5’8”), but I bought the Child’s Large Leotard because I thought since her outfit is so tight on her. I tried it on and it will work WONDERFULLY. I was excited.
For the Armor on Fran here is what I plan on doing:
I am going to make the armor from Foam Paper. Now this might seem a little silly, but there is a wonderful method (as will be seen later on) to make armor from it. It involves cheap, easy ingredients and is a simple process.
Now, once I make the armor I am going to buy some adhesive Velcro. I’ll put some Velcro on the armor, and then the stockings! It’ll be easy to keep on and take off. If this doesn’t work, I will super glue the armor to the stockings. I was talking to another Fran cosplayer, and that is what she did. It’s easy to pull off after words, though you do screw up your stockings every time you wear the costume. Again, good thing they are cheap. ^_^
Now, for her top.
I will get my friend Katheryn to wrap me up tightly in duct tape over a slim-fitting T-Shirt. When we get the desired corset-like top, we will cut it down the back so I can hop out, and voila! We have my chest armor~! It will be cut, foam paper put over it after being turned into armor, and then worn over the leotard. The leotard will be cut and hemmed to the desired shape.
And so far, that is what I have!
