Hidden Truths
we all have a time we need to let others know what we're feeling, or sometimes to help us we have journals or diaries to write our feelings and personal thoughts in. Its true for us all This is my place to write those inner most secrets, feelings, an
The wind would howl like the very wolfs that inhabited the hills of this simple town of Hallows-berg. There was always Miss Dandies and her flowers; number one gardener in town, Mr. Lao the best chef in town, Larcas the self proclaimed scientist, and Mrs. Fray fortune teller extraordinaire. Yes the town was full of kooks, all believing they where sane, But there was one everyone agreed was mad. Jonathan Jones, a single man who rarely left his home, the only time anyone saw him was when he was going to get food and drink from the local grocers. Odd thing about it was, he bought excessive amounts of food, especially sweets, yet he seemed as if he never ate himself.

He used to be the talk of the town, everyone was friends with the Jones family, until that day. Abigail jones died in a horrible car accident leaving Jonathan alone with their 6 year old boy, Wallaby. It wasn’t soon after that the poor boy fell ill with a chronic rheumatic fever, died within 3 days after diagnosis. After the funeral Mr. Jones began to lock himself away from the world, no one heard or saw of him.

Then the rumors started, people began to claim they saw a figure in his attic window when he was out , people said it was his dead son watching the house while he was away, Others would claim when Jones arrived home he would immediately enter the attic and close the curtains over the window. It went this way for years no one dared go near the home or question the owner on the strange sightings, That is until one person became curious.

A 4th year student of Elkridge high school had been sprinting home, tears vague in his eyes. The air was thick to the poin the had to stop and repose himself. Cursing under his breath he looked at the tall walls surrounding the old Victorian styled home. He whipped away his obnoxious tears looking at its texture mesmerized by its other worldliness, in all his life most the folks around town seemed to have simple one story homes, yet this one seemed so extravagant. There was a screeching of metal as the gate a little further down the way opened, the boy looked in the direction. A man ran out and right past him without even remembering to close the gate.

“uhm….” The teenager began before his ears picked up a child’s laughter, it was coming from the house. There in the window of the old attic was a smiling silhouette. A grin spread against the teens lips, “I think its time to go investigate.”

Hastily he entered the house finding it in sheer disrepair, dust everywhere and family photos cracked or torn, Even the stairs would give the occasional creek as he scaled them. As he walked down the hall he notice two things amiss, the stair case to the attic seemed as though it was always down, and the bedroom next to it seemed to be in perfect condition compared to the rest of the house. His eye twitched, “ this just gives weird a whole new meaning”

Again came the laughter and it seemed to come from the attic now. He walked up the stares careful not to make a sound. Fist enclosing the knob he turned it slowly and opened the door, beyond it was a sight to see, stuffed animals, toys and what seemed to be ribbon was everywhere, The room seemed so happy it was frightening. Over by the window was a bed with purple sheets, but no one seemed to inhabit the room, yet he could still hear laughter.

Out of nowhere something hit him, knocking him to the floor. Looking over his shoulder to see what had committed such an act, he found himself staring into the eye of a short brunet, with a smile on his face, hair in his left eye, and different colors of skin stitched to him. The smile only got bigger until the kid burst, “ HI! I’m Wally, you must be a bad boy, heheh!”

“what makes you assume this?” He stared skeptically at the one called Wally. His only response was a giggle, which frankly pissed him off. This child didn’t seem to have any manners at all, or a brain for that matter, “how old are you… Wally?”

“hehe I’m 17!To answer your question you where dark clothing papa says that’s a bad sign and on a side not its rude to be given a name and not give yours in return,” That same smile was almost unchanged, as if eternal. How could someone be this happy, especially in Hallows-Berg? It baffled the teenager.

“well I ain’t a bad guy, I’m just not a stickler for happiness… its over-rated, & if you must know my names Kai.. and so u don‘t ask later I‘m 18” He looked to the side trying to ignore the other. The boy’s contrasting happy mood to his sullen one made him want to strangle the kid, yet there was something else he felt he couldn’t describe. Wally got up and skipped over to his bed knocking over what seemed to be a pile of manga , “well I think I’ll call you Ka-san instead, heheh.”

‘great, just great he barely knows me and he’s already using nick names’ Kai thought to himself. There was a sudden cluttering sound, loud enough to get both boys attention. They turned to see a disheveled Mr. Jones, “ who are you and how did you get into my home!? No don’t answer just get out!!”

“but papa he’s my friend!!”
“No he is not he is just another one of these gossiping conforming bastards in this town” Jonathan’s voice was laced with venom. Kai only looked at him, slightly startled, He stood still for what seemed 30 minutes, until Mr. Jones advanced, “alright, alright, I’m going.”
