Chapter 2: Ahna's game
The next day was Friday, Tilara's second favorite day of the week right next to Saturday. There were things that the group liked about their school. Passing by the school courtyard on Fridays was not one of them. They were talking amongst themselves, minding their own buisness when they heard it. Distant voices chanting random cheers that they couldn't hear from the distance but recognized immediately. "Cheerleaders." Tilara sneered. Then they saw them. Girls that almost looked anorexic, most with blonde hair. Typical cheerleaders. They were dressed in cheerleader outfits of red and orange, clutching pompoms of the same color.
They ended their routine with a peppy, "Go Lions!" All Tilara could do was roll her eyes. But she tried to quicken her pace when she noticed the worst of the cheerleaders walking towards them. Her name was Biyowei. She had black wavy hair that reached to the middle of her neck that normally had a bow hairclip in it. She had narrow dark eyes that matched her evil attitude. "Freak alert!" Biyowei sneered at them. Tilara glared back, clenching her fist in case she couldn't help but sock her in the nose. Naomi elbowed her in the arm and Tilara's hand relaxed. "C'mon, why do ya gotta bug us like this?" Ahna sighed. "Cause it's fun." Biyowei smirked, triggering her fellow cheerleaders to start laughing. "Why don't ya just get your own life?" Tilara sneered.
Biyowei looked angry. She thrust her hand against the fence and screeched, "You freaks have no place around here! Get lost!" Ahna stayed back for a second. "You know what sucks?" Ahna growled. "I actually have to stand you at tonights volleyball game." After saying that, Ahna quickened her pace to catch up with her friends. "What's her problem?" Mara sighed, shaking her head in disapproval. "Well, nowadays, a nice cheerleader is really rare." Tilara sighed. The quartet (quintet counting Toto) continued on for a few blocks. All the while, Ahna looked like she wanted to say something.
With a sigh, Ahna reached into a small pocket of her duffel bag, producing three tickets to something. "Hey, guys." she said to get her friends attention. "You remember how my dad doesn't want friends at my volleyball games cause he thinks they're a distraction?" Mara, Naomi and Tilara nodded unhappily. "Well, with the right amount of begging, I managed to get you in for tonight's game." Ahna smirked. The girls cheered, snatching a ticket. "We can finally use that "Go, Ahna!" sign!" Tilara cheered.
Later that evening, all the fans of the volleyball team were crowded into the gym. Mara, Naomi and Tilara were, at the moment, unfolding the 'Go Ahna!' sign. "Alright, ladies." Coach Chin, Ahna's father, said in an intimidating tone. "This is our season opener. I expect to see nothing but the best from you girls." "And you'll get it, Dad." Ahna nodded. "I mean, Coach." With that, the teams were introduced and starting players took their positions. Much to Ahna's dismay, Biyowei and her gang of 'peanut-brain' cheerleaders were standing nearby.
As Ahna was about to serve, Biyowei did that fake cough, calling Ahna, "Loser!" This threw Ahna off and made her serve the ball into the net. As the referee called the first foul on the Seoul Lions, Ahna turned to glare at Biyowei. Ahna was given another chance, again ruined by Biyowei. This time Ahna turned around and told her sternly, "Hey, be quiet over there!" But Biyowei didn't head this warning. This time, she made the mistake of using that fake cough and calling Ahna "Dyke!" Ahna stopped short when she heard this, letting the ball fall to the ground. She turned to sneer at Biyowei, her eyes almost literally flaming.
"Oh, boy." Tilara muttered to herself, hiding behind the 'Go Ahna!' sign. Mara and Naomi could watch Ahna storm over to Biyowei, almost shaking in pure rage. Ahna pushed Biyowei's shoulder, screeching, "What the hell's your problem!?" "All right, you two." Coach Chin said, keeping them apart. "Break it up." Ahna was about to return to her postition when Biyowei did the fake cough again, calling Ahna, "Daddy's girl!" Ahna stomped back towards Biyowei, screaming, "Ya know what!? You can go to hell for all I care!" Immediately when this was said, every light in the gymnaisium went out. A random voice could be heard, probably another cheerleader or volleyball player, saying, "Holy frick. Ahna's temper is destructive!" Then lights flickered back on, much dimmer than before.
"...what'd you just do?" Biyowei whimpered. "I didn't do anything." Ahna stammered. Suddenly, the volleyball net was launched off to the side, narrowly missing the cheerleaders and the people in the stands. Right where it had been was a slowly growing purple and black vortex. "What the f-?" Tilara started. Just as she spoke, a rush of air exploded from the vortex, replacing the vortex itself with four people: Two men, Two women.
One of the women said in a high-pitched, cutesy voice, "Did we make it?" The wing of the other woman lifted up, revealing a lilac-colored eye. "Yeah, I think we did." the woman said in a stern sounding voice. "Do you think this is where she went, Lord Sepia?" one of the men asked the other. "I'm pretty sure." the other man nodded. All four stood up, spreading their bat-like wings.
The cutesy woman had lilac hair that fell to her waist in little ringlets and was dressed in a dress modeled from thorns. The stern woman had long straight dark brown, almost ebony hair and was dressed in a monotone deep brown dress that reached to her feet. The man that referred to 'Lord Sepia' had a red buzz cut and wore only black jeans. Lord Sepia himself had black hair tied into a low ponytail and was in a tunic, jeans and had gauntlets covering his forearms. Sepia smirked to the audience and said, "Hello, people of this world. We come in peace."
Biyowei snickered, "What are you? Aliens?" She laughed for a second, but was suddenly yanked into the air by her wrist. "What would you like me to do with her, Lord Sepia?" the man asked Sepia. Sepia groaned, "Oak, put her down." Oak released Biyowei's wrist, letting her fall to the floor. "Willow, Birch, make them feel comfortable." Sepia told the women, gesturing towards the door. Willow and Birch nodded swiftly and snatched a desk, dragging it in front of the door.
"Now, I don't want you getting the wrong idea." Sepia reassured the crowd. "I don't want to cause any trouble." "Then whadda you want with us?" Tilara asked. "It's not what I want with you..." Sepia explained. "It's what I want from you. One of you might have something that I want. Dorothy, if you're here, I'd like Thyrosos back, please."
