Coffee Shop Hot Spot: The Global Bean

Joel Skellie and Lance Gilbert are the managers of The Global Bean coffee shop in Silverdale, Washington. This shop is no Starbucks but it definitely could compete. TGB puts it’s own flair of the “Coffee Culture.” As Joel said. He and Lance opened this shop in hopes that it would bring families and friends closer together.
“One day we had a couple come in and the young man proposed to his girlfriend in the middle of the shop. We even helped plan their wedding with them.” Joel said that was the most fantastic thing that happened in the shop in addition to a father and son coming to play the son’s first game of chess there. The Bean seems to be doing very well aside from the economy being the way it is right now. Aside from the coffee being affordable and yummy, it’s all organic and seasonal. “We roast our own coffee and press our own chai. Nothing is warehoused or store bought.” This is a place where you can just come and hangout with your friends, and it’s totally laid back. Joel said he was going for more of an European pub kind of feel, when you think of that, a picture of an old Irish tavern comes to mind doesn’t it?
Well it’s not like that; it’s a coffee house. They don’t just serve coffee though; they have tea, wine, soda, and beer (not that we need the wine and beer). Joel and Lance are also fantastic musicians. At night around 7pm they have live music!! Joel and Lance get up and play with the bands too, it’s just fantastic!! “I’m always looking for younger musicians and I like to have people who aren’t trying to make a cover for themselves. You need to put your own flair into what you play and I love originals!” Joel exclaimed. This should give all you aspiring musicians a good time.

Just rember that you need to put your own flair and all the music needs to be appropriate for younger children!
