Alright. I admit. That was a tad bit dramatic. Just listen to what happened. Rixia sprang towards me with determination in her eyes. The same red glow of the crystal heart was now like a halo around her head. Everything felt like it was in slow motion. She stood in front of me while putting her arm out. Her hand was glowing the same red as the door still came towards us. Then, the air reverberated sending a wave of energy in all directions. Where the wave flew, it looked like glass. The next thing I knew, was that the door was hurled back in the other direction. With a satisfying crack the door slammed into the huge shadowy creature who had knocked it to us in the first place. All noise began to come back to me, including the mutters of wonder from the people inside, to the last sword falling from the shelf from all of the force. Then everything became absolutely quiet. A woman spoke. “It appears, child, that you have the power to do anything, if it’s an act of love.” The woman who spoke was thin and dark. She had beautiful silver hair that fell to the middle of her back. She wore a cool and sophisticated expression. Rixia blankly stared at her. “ Me? Really?” The lady nodded. “That’s what it looks like. But enough. We must try to defeat Malleus, the demon.” The people roared and charged out of the building weapons ready. The woman left with them. “Auxion...Auxion ” Aayoko called, nudging my shoulder. “What, Aayoko?” “If you want to make a difference, you have to learn how to use the attacking aspects of your Mirror. And quick. The demon will destroy the whole town if you don’t ” Aayoko said with a desperate urgency in his voice. “Tell me what I have to do,” I smiled. I can finally begin to figure out more about the Mirror. “Ok, concentrate on a vivid golden-white ball of light inside of your Mirror. Got it?”
I nodded, getting a mediocre picture in my mind, most of the energy of the thought probably stayed... a thought. I only saw a flicker of light come from my Mirror to confirm that it worked. “Now, point the Mirror in the direction where you want it to fire, and convert the thought to a superheated beam that slices through anything. It only has as much power as you will it.” He quickly explained starting to walk to the entrance. With every word the image got brighter and brighter until the thought was a reality. The mirror had a hot halo of silver-gold light around it. I closed one eye and pointed it to the demon, who was wrestling with some Guardians. They were pointing their hands at Malleus, cutting up the demon, with invisible magic swords. I gave a dramatic step forward and changed the ball to a beam, as a laser of light whistled through the air, straight at the black creature. It turned towards me hissing, but allowing me to get a good look at it, and a good look at the mess which was a town. First off, the area was in ruins. The buildings were collapsed, had crumbling foundations or had huge chunks of them missing. A few bodies were strewn here and there also, adding to the chaos. The demon, on the other hand, was wispy, and had no one form for very long although it had a general human shape. It’s body was always swirling. It had two perfect, yellow circles for eyes and a jagged edge for a mouth, it slightly hanging ajar now. It probably stood at about thirteen feet but was now hunched over, extending it’s form over to me. People and their guardians surrounded the demon, shouting more commands, more invisible swords swinging. During this, Galin had gone to the back and returned with a monster of a sword in his hands. With a great heave he swung the blade at Malleus. At the same time, I rushed at the demon with the glowing dagger in my hand, deciding to stab it. Malleus formed around Galin’s attack, leaving the sword stuck in the dirt. But my attack hit right on target, leaving it’s flesh sizzling. It gave a growl, reared up and jumped at me, pulling itself out of my Mirror. I threw my self to the ground, just as Malleus would have taken off my head. Quickly getting up, I surveyed the landscape again. There was a destroyed building, a pool of blood, the Coffa, Café, a building with a curved in roof, a tower with an unstable top, a residents’ home, another– Wait A tower with an unstable top I quickly sprouted a plan that might stop the demon, once and for all, but I needed to run, fast. “Cover me ” I shouted, to no one in particular. I then shot around the demon and dashed to the leaning tower. The demon turned around to follow me, only to be hacked at by Galin’s sword. Aayoko joined nearby fighters. I frantically waved to him, still making my way over the rubble. He looked up and saw me, and in an instant he was running beside me. “Cover me,” I repeated. “Alright,” He replied, stopping and turning around. Malleus was directly behind us. Continuing my route to the tower, I jumped over huge chunks of stone, laying in haphazard piles. Finally, I made it to the huge gap in the tower which was once a door. A short hall was to the right and to the left was a spiraling flight of stairs. I took the stairs, running up two at a time, hoping for the demon to be slow. But, of course, it wasn’t. When I glanced back, I noticed a black tendril, following me, quickly. I suppose Aayoko wasn’t holding Malleus back as well as I thought. I quickly channeled a beam of light at the tendril, that, after being struck, it curled up, withered and became dark gray dust. I smiled, continuing my spiraling ascent towards the roof. But the demon persisted sending up three more. I finally neared the top, noticing that the stairs began to look ragged. A few of the steps further up had the wood cracked and had two inch gaps in between them. The wall of the next few feet of the tower was completely at a slant, which reminded me of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I took a few more carful steps up and got to the window, its frame also bent, and the glass shattered. I gave a quick glance behind me to see the tentacles turn to dust. Good job Aayoko! I looked back to the window and stared at the ground below. It was actually a roof below of a one story building. It was a ten feet drop. I managed to put one leg out and onto the windowsill holding onto the top beam of wood. I hastily set my other foot down and gave a sigh of relief. Half of it was over. The tower gave a violent shake making me momentarily lose my balance. I gripped harder and leveled myself. I gave a last look at the building below me and...jumped. I landed on the roof with a heavy thud, certainly less graceful than I had hoped. Warily, I stood up. I was down and ok. I peered up at the tower window after seeing a flicker of movement. My senses were confirmed when I saw Aayoko leaning out of the window. He followed me. The more the merrier. He began to shout and despite another crash against the tower, I heard his words loud and clear: “Auxion! Stop! I’m sorry, but there is one thing I didn’t mention. You were meant to come here! It was a setup,” He paused and looked up after a small chunk of rock fell on his head, “We need you! All of Lun-sei needs you! You can’t run away because this is your fate!”
