I felt like I deserved a bit of a break. So the only thing to do was kinda blend in and relax. I was on a tropical island, somewhere out in the Atlantic Ocean. The place had a crazy jungle, and a small village on the other side of the island. Felt nice to have just regular clothes on for a change. Everything was perfect, until one of the villagers came up to me. He was all beat up.
"Whoa, what happened to you?" I asked the guy.
"One of our girls has been dragged underwater by something! Not even our best diver could reach her," he said.
The instant I heard 'dragged underwater', I jumped off my beach chair and dashed into the jungle. It'd take too long if I went around, plus the sand was so loose that it would impair my speed. And believe me, when a person is unable to surface for air, you'd have to make sure not to waste what little time you have.
I managed to get there, but then came the hard part: getting the girl back to land before she drowns. It's a good thing I can shoot through water like a torpedo. (That's basically how I swim.) I got to the girl swiftly. She was white-haired, around my age, had a green and white bathing suit, and was being dragged by a long tentacle to the ocean floor. I knew who that beast belonged to: a certain sea witch who tried to drown Arielle.
I didn't have enough time to draw my blades, so I kicked at the tentacle and freed her, but I was too late. My Aura Sight showed that she was almost gone. I wasted no words and hurried her back to the surface. This little adreneline rush made my aura burn so fierce that you could actually see it with the naked eye.
We surfaced, she was still out cold, and it was heavily raining. And I really couldn't do mouth-to-mouth. I wasted too much stamina getting to her. Had no choice but to try that risky move, Aura Revival. But with how much my aura burned, I think I could execute the move perfectly.
I poured as much of my power as needed until she started to cough up water. I had to hold her hands so I could perform the ability. As she opened her greyish-blue eyes, she saw me and smiled.
"Who.... are you?" she asked me.
"I'm Mat. I saved your life," I told her.
"Thank you. I'm Aoi," she said, staring into my brown eyes.
I stayed by her side for a while. Knowing me, I don't think that beast from the deep is gonna give up just like that. One day, Aoi was out swimming again. I stayed close by. For some reason, she liked diving than swimming on the surface. Just as she went up for air, the same tentacle rose up from below. This time, I was ready.
I slashed it in half, and it went back down. Then, the whole thing came up. It looked like one of those Kraken I read about. I went super and when I was finished, there was enough food at the village for 5 years, and oh boy, did these people like seafood.
It was a long good-bye when I had to leave. Aoi wouldn't let go. I told that when this fiasco was over, I'd show her around the aquatic world I settled into.
Later on, I heard some people say that there was a rumor that a white-haired girl would stand on the beach of an island and stare dreamily into the sky, waiting for someone to return. After they left, I stared out into the ocean, in the direction of the island. I just knew that I would hook up with Aoi again when this was over.
