I hate big cities, and being here in L.A. has reminded me why I hate them so much. I'm here this weekend for the Los Angeles International Auto Show. It's one of the big three auto shows in the world (the other two being the Detroil and Paris shows). It's so hard to find places to park, and the traffic is INSANE! I thought Bay Area / San Francisco traffic was bad, but L.A. traffic is way worse. That and unlike San Francisco, Los Angeles is spread out over a large area.
The drive down didn't feel as long as it was (7 hours). It's probably because I just plain love driving. I rented a Chevrolet Cobalt LT from Hertz, and it came in one of my favorite colors for a car, white! Because of my ridiculously careful driving, I managed to get an average of 37 miles per gallon! That's the EPA highway mileage for the Cobalt XFE (X-tra Fuel Economy) from a 4-speed automatic LT! So basically, it's not only as if I was driving the special fuel economy version, but also as if I never stopped or drove within the city!
Anyway, I go into the auto show tomorrow, and will be packing a camera to take pictures of all the awesome cars that will be there. I've never been to a show this big before. Unlike other local or enthusiast car shows, the real car companies actually strut their new and conceptual stuff here! I'm very excited!
