The River
By Bairon Madrigal
Each day I visit the river,
To see its glistening glow.
The moon shines bright above my head,
The river and its endless flow.
I feel as if it speaks to me,
Hinting me its name.
Although I cannot understand its whisper,
I feel our past coming again.
A spirit lurks the foggy shores,
Watching, waiting, listening.
It’s white, eerie glow,
Warns all of its presence,
But it calls me,
Calls me every night.
My body cannot resist,
Resist its alluring voice.
As I approach,
I witness a bright light.
It surrounds me,
Engulfs me.
I panic,
But its melody was comforting,
Rewarding.
That very night, I experienced something,
Something spectacular.
The spirit was my grandfather,
My loving, pure grandfather.
He has not come to haunt me,
Nor taunt me.
But something more spectacular.
This was not a dream,
I can assure you.
Because what happened that night was true.
The phenomenon that took place in this very city.
The paranormal activity on that river.
The endless flowing river.
