Chapter: 6
Rixia and I gazed in shock as we saw the town. Suddenly I felt ill, like there was a hollow pit in my stomach. I recognized the ache as hunger. It was true, we hadn’t eaten. I began to walk forward through the street(which was devoid of cars) which had grass growing in it’s cracks. Then, what I saw a few seconds ago set in on me, my brain being slowed. Walking behind many people were identical twins. The twins had dark evil looking eyes and the weird aura thing, just like Haunt. They glared at me as I walked by, so I glared back. Rixia stood glued to her spot although Aayoko waved his hand in front of her surprised face. The Mirror dagger glinted and started to pull on it’s own accord. I held my arm out and followed it, it taking me into the crowd. “Hurry up,” I called to Aayoko and Rixia, not looking behind me. I rounded a stone tower, one of many that populated the town. In fact, the whole town had towers, each of them different heights and widths, some spiraling up in an unorganized line, others standing perfectly straight. Not to mention the walkways above us. The whole village looked like a mess. Another busy street was a’round’ the corner. ‘Round’, like the tower. Get it? Ok, it was a lame joke... I’ll just stop. I glanced backwards to see if they both caught up. For a terrifying second, I thought they disappeared, but they were just behind a particularly wide woman for a moment. I turned back as the Mirror stopped tugging. It looked like something was disturbing the crowd. They would suddenly move out of the way for someone, or something. I tried to get a better view, but the adults were too tall, with their funny hats and long coats, despite the warm whether. A young boy with a sharp, blue coachman’s coat strode up to us, now that Rixia and Aayoko caught up. With his eyes on Aayoko, he swiftly drew a letter out of his pocket. “Aayoko, I have a message for you and your...companions.” He stated, hiding disgust on his face. “Thank you,” He answered vaguely. The boy handed him the letter, giving him a fake smile. He turned on his heel, and strode off. Rixia gave him the finger as he left. “Jerk...” she muttered. The letter was made from incredibly crisp, thick paper, with a burgundy seal that read Royal Guard. Aayoko turned to us after slipping it into his coat pocket. “Are you hungry?” He asked. “Yes...” We groaned. “Good, because I’ve got some explaining to do, and nothing’s better than drinking a cup of coffa while we’re at it. Follow me,” He said. We walked a few feet into a short tower. The window had a simple cup on it, steaming pink stuff in a swirly pattern. I opened the door for them both. But I began to wonder. Why is he helping us so much? Could he be one of those creepy children? No, he doesn’t look evil. But what is hiding? And how big is that woman’s chin? Oh my– A sharp, cinnamon smell cut into my thoughts. I walked over to the cozy booth that Rixia had picked out and sat down. A waitress came up to us with a little pink note book. She looked like a life sized Barbie doll. Her blonde hair had hideous pinkish tint to it that made stare at it. But, it got worse when she opened her mouth. “Hi Like, welcome to The Coffa Café I’m Brittany. So can I totally, take your order?” She said in an obnoxiously high pitched voice. At every word Rixia twitched. “We would like to have three cups of mild coffa, with cream and sugar,” Aayoko politely ordered for us. “Omg, like, right away,” She replied, turning around and walking into the back. Aayoko sighed deeply and looked at us intently. Then he spoke up. “Now...What would you like to have answered?”
