Breac's journal about life in and out of her coop. Starring Chickens, turkeys, and the occasional goose.
Bye Bye, Fowl-pox!
Scott took me out to the chickens today. I saw the turkens in the garden. There was a swarm of Asian beetles in the turkey coop. They must have had a nest in there or something. When I first opened the door to the turkey coop, I saw Gilly and Jenny sitting on top of the cabinets. They had tipped over the trash bin and pushed the tarp off. They were panting and couldn't get down. Those naughty birds. Seems Jenny likes Scott too. She hunched down and wanted Scott to pet her. After he got interested in a kitten and I held Jenny, Gilly came up and put her head under my arm. It was so cool. Both of the big scabs on Jenny's beak are gone. The one that was near her nostril just came off. The spot where it was is still raw and exposed, but she doesn't seem to mind. When I put her down, Jenny spit and puffed up like a Tom. It was odd.
Mr. Burby injured his eye again. There's a scab under his right eye, and I have no clue how it got there. I called home and tried to convince Mom to let me bring him home, but she said No. I had to pen him up with Pearl. The back of her head has scabbed over, and she's looking better. Her back feathers are coming in.
