It does. The majority of all songs that are topping the charts manipulate certain voices and sounds that are CATCHY. Not songs that you'll love 20 years from now. Many kids my age tend to say a song, "is old". Well, it couldn't have been so good in the first place if the same people that liked it won't bother listening to it a year later. Some good songs do get played a lot on the radio, making them fade much quicker than it should.
Mostly, you'll see this in rap and pop. I don't really listen to country but I don't think they have the same problem. I always thought country had a sense of modesty to it, which I find admirable. (From what I've seen) the state of mind of country are like it's people, a bit rebelious but wholesome, while pop and rap encourages doin' it in the back seat of a hummer and women kissing women for the fun of it (which is sorta a slap in the face to 100% lesbians that want respect).
You may be thinking, this chick hates top charting music. No, I don't. Like I said, sometimes it's good such as Ne-Yo, Rihanna, and OneRepublic but the fact that pop reuses the angst and sadness in order to get sales, is why we should stop praising songs we won't like 2 yrs from now. The music may have taken time to write and mastered to sing but a lot of time it's not so much for the listeners as it is for the money.

P.S. Reason why I put pop and *mainstream rap together is because the demographic is around the same age and same state of mind, searching for depth or searching for more fun
