The topic of keeping the community updated is something I have been talking about a lot lately, both in the forums and in the office. In the spirit of increasing communication and transparency, I am starting this journal to let know what I am working on and what else I know about other priorities and upcoming features.
Some things we like to push out as surprises wink Like, there will be a halloween event but I can't tell you what or when (OK, its in october! you got me!). There is a new casual game (our best one yet) sneaking out as a 'beta' version, and of course we are getting closer and closer to zomg (trying to iron out as many glitches as possible).
As far as core feature improvements (which is my area) I can try and let you know what is coming up. Priorities, assignments and dates change a lot, so just because I say something does not mean that its set in stone.
As of now, the rough order of things is:
1) finish arenas (there are still some bug fixes and improvements we are working on. thanks to my friend Lady Rat who has provided a lot of bug reports and good suggestions)
2) fix inventory (this is like the highest thing the community is asking for, and its not an easy fix)
2b) while we are on inventory, improve inventory and avatar dress-up
3) (farther out) update the guild system, and add improvements to guilds & forums
Aside from core features and zomg, other groups in gaia are working on new user experiences (because a lot of people come to gaia, feel lost or don't get it, and then leave. we need to change that.) and making money (because we need to become profitable). The last two groups make more announcements and new features, but just as much effort (maybe more) is on core features. The core features are actually harder to do than new features because we have to make sure we don't mess up whats working (and that sometimes happens anyway).
