Jenny
Well, two days ago, Jenny came home to get the scabs on her beak checked out. We had gone out kind of late in the day, so when we got home, it was pretty dark out and Jenny and I went straight to bed. When I woke up, she had laid an egg in my bed. The next day I scheduled a vet appointment for after school. I couldn't find the harness, so Dad convinced me to just use small training collar on her. The vets laughed when they saw her. She got a bit spooked in the waiting room, and I had to lie on the floor with her to calm her down. When Dr. Mike saw her, he said it was probably a fungus, which he said could be difficult to treat. But he didn't know what it was for sure, so he said he'd take a picture of her beak and ask around. He didn't give any medicine, since he didn't know what it was. So we went home and I tried to take a nap, but Jenny jumped up on the bed and made a big fuss laying another egg. She was acting constipated. I could hear her going "Hnng...HNNNG...HNNNG" right before she laid it. After that, she settled down and we napped. She went home today after I was done with class. Dad had to go buy a travel book, and since PetCo is right around the corner, I took her in. Other than a "That's the first turkey I've seen in the store," no one seemed surprised. I met an employee who owned pet chickens and even a seagull, and we talked for a bit. Jenny was really well behaved and didn't poop or fuss. All she did was eye up the bird food shelves. Smart bird.
When she got back, Gilly seemed a bit flustered and asserted her dominance right away. I'm still waiting for a call from Dr. Mike.
The chickens are doing ok. Maybe it's just me, but many of the birds seem far too light. I hope it's not the worms again. I still really miss Milt.
