Madrid, Spain
Breakfast: Same as yesterday.
Hour's drive out of Madrid.
Abila, Spain
Small town, stop for lunch. I like this place; small, quiet, safe. Saw an ancient cathedral that was really a castle built by a king who wanted to live like a monk. Our tour guide for that day was very informative. Ooh! There were GORGEOUS paintings on the ceilings!!! heart blaugh heart
Lunch: Gazpacho* xp (nasty, gave it to my Spanish teacher)
*Gazpacho is a cold tomato soup with onions and croutons.
Segovia, Spain
Saw the Roman Aqueduct. Really cool. We weren't able to get too close to it though because there was some kind of construction going on around it. I forget whether or not it's actually still used.
Went to Alcazar, a traditional "fairytale" castle. Everything was really pretty. Next, shopping on the streets. SO MUCH WALKING!!! scream I thought I was going to die! But I did buy a souvenir: a ring shaped like a peacock.
2 hour drive out of Segovia to Burgos. Ladies from Texas wouldn't shut up, so I couldn't take a nap.
Burgos, Spain
You can tell we're in the Northern part of Spain: weather's cooler.
Staying at the Zenit Hotel. Much nicer than the Petite Palace, but it's weird how there are so many mirrors in the bathroom. The walls are just nothing but mirrors in there. I guess Europeans really like to look at themselves... neutral
Dinner: In the hotel's restaurant: -rice and raw meat with peppers xp (didn't eat)
-Beef and vegetable stew 4laugh heart
-Spanish flan heart heart heart
Played cards with Karen, Mike, Alex, and Oscar after dinner. Fun day but exhausting.
