A short, struggled sigh escaped Larissa's cracked lips, though a smile still tugged at the corners of her mouth. Few times had it been so difficult. Rarely had it been so fun. Her fists clenched, Larissa leaped between the smoothed stones. Her bare feet were already shriveled by soaking in the stream, and each stone dug into her skin. A wolf with silvery-blue fur as thick as a lion's mane darted out in front of her, sprinting along the same stream.
Larissa couldn't resist. It was in her genes to win. Competition ran through her veins just as she ran down that lethargic stream. Rounding a sharp bend in the icy creek, Larissa saw the wolf sitting up in the middle of the water, its tongue lolling out exasperatedly. Larissa's own chest hurt, and a break was not out of order at all. she slowed to a gentle stop.
She stood now only a few feet from the wolf, and suddenly found her eyes wandering to the razor-sharp teeth in the beast's panting mouth.
