Chapter 8 Danger is infinate


When I woke up in the morning it took me some time to figure out where I was but then my memories came flooding back. I got dressed in the Chinese styled robe at the end of my bed.It was definantly hand made with symbols sewn with golden thread into the dark honey colored silk. I went down the stairs and into the dinning room.
"Where's Hender?" I asked the two who were rummaging the kitchen for food.
"You mean you haven't seen him?"Zeth said looking up with a confused face.
"No."
"He usualy walks around the halls checking on things, and lets Karn out of his cage...."
"Not today."Karn chimed in."The door was open when I woke up."
"Really?" Zeth asked.
"Yea."
"Morning." We all jumped as Hender spoke unexpectedly.
"Hender."We all said at the same time while turning around.
"Hender what happend?"Karn asked and ran toward Hender who looked like he was in a fight.He had bruises and a bloody lip he looked as if he would colapse.
"Hender go sit down Karn get the medical supplies." Zeth orderd as he looked at Hender's injuries.
"Get off me Zeth I'm fine. Besides we have company."Hender said pointing at the door and almost on que the door was pushed down and a man came barging in.
"I'm here for the dragon."The man said holding up a sword.
"Fine let's go out side."Hender said pushing out the door.
"Hender are you sure?" Zeth said grabing his shoulder.
"Yes and please let me go that hurts."Hender said brushing off Zeth.
We all went outside with Zeth,Karn,and I over by the door and Hender and the Man standing opposite each other then the man launched at Hender with amazing speed that I have never seen before.Hender must have been surprised too because he reacted late and got a large horizontal cut on his chest.He staggerd back but then launched himself matching his opponent's speed but his opponent leaped back and instead of Hender causing a wound ,his opponent delivered another slash into his stomach and then he grabbed Henders hair and swung him into a tree. Hender collapsed to the ground and was breathing hard. Blood started too run from his head and over his left eye and finally dripped off of his cheek and on to the floor.Hender then got up just to get a punch in the jaw making his lip bleed his opponent stabed the sword toward Henders neck Hender tried to roll away but got a small cut on his neck.He was in bad shape. The man raised the sword again but instead of sliting Hender's neck Hender raised his arm and got a long deep wound on the back of his wrist then delivered a hard punch to the man just hard enough to get him away.Hender sat up and attacked again just to get the uper part of his other arm sliced open.The man grabbed Hender again and this time threw him up into the air about ten feet then he jumped above Hender and kicked him in the stomach sending him falling into a tree ,through the branches,and to the bottom. The man landed gracefully on his feet as Hender carefuly pushed himself up. When Hender was standing the man launched again.
"Die!!"He yelled pointing his blade at Hender who was not moving.
"Hender!!"We yelled together but then the man stopped his sword touching Hender's chest that was covered with seagreen scales.
"You never attack an angry dragon who has had a bad night with bad dreams."Hender said looking at the man with disgust and pure anger.
"Oh no."Karn said backing up,"It's Jurane."
"Jurane?"
"Sort of his duel personality."Zeth explained,"When Hender gets angry he acts like a totally diffrent person, like Haru from that manga "Fruits Basket" , but he can be dangerous.He named it Jurane."
"So he's a schizophrenic?"
"No he's still Hender but just angry. The name came from the dragon language meaning anger so ,Jurane."
Hender/Jurane was staring at the man with a smirk on his face he raised a hand to his stomach wound and felt how bad it was.
"You got me good not many can do that." He complimented."But it was a fatal mistake."He clenched his hand and punched at the man's stomach drilling right through it he then turned his hand to face up and opened it. He pulled back out of the man and took his heart with him. The man collapsed to the ground spuring blood.
"What a dirty soul." Hender mummered to himself and through the heart away.He walked toward us and I was just staring at him blankly.
"Don't worry Marrion."He said smileing at me,"Jurane only comes out when I'm angry,and I'm not angry.As a matter of fact I'm the complete oposite, I'm verry happy that I killed him, it woke me up." He then walked back into the house and into the kitchen.
"He gets really bubbly after he goes Jurane." Zeth explaned."Come on let's get some breakfast."
We all sat at the table and ate our breakfast after Zeth treated Hender's wounds which wer healed before Karn finnished cooking.
"It's chilly in hear."Zeth said drinking a cup of coffy.
"Well that dead idiot outside did break down the door."Hender said looking up."Speaking of wich Marrion are you sqeemage with blood ore boddys?"
"Well considering that I was nearly drowned in a tub of blood yea."
"You what?!"
"Oh some weardo took me to his house and nearly dround me in a bath tub full of blood. I had just escaped when Karn found me."
"Oh Okay. Anny way We have to kleen up the body so you might want to go up stairs."
"Why do we have to kleen up the body?"Karn said."Karine can have it."
Oh okay? So mutch for wory and fear.


Chapter 9 A True Wolf

"Who's Karine?" I asked puzzled.
"A animagus."Hender answerd."Good idea Karn call her."
"Okay." Karn then went to the oppen door,cuped his hands around his mouth and howeled like a wolf. Ther was a nother howel and then a wolf came out of the brush.
"Karine,you can have the corps of the man Hender killed."Zeth said to the wolf pointing tword the body. The wolf looked at the corps and then, get this, turned into a girl.
"Thanks."She said."Who's the girlly?"
"This is Marrion. Marrion this is Karine."Hender intodused us.
"Hello."I said waving.
"Hey."She returned."So Hender I take it you went Jurane again right? You allways kill your opponent when you go Jurane."
"Yea well I had a bad night and I didn't have mutch sleep."
"That explanes it. Well thanks for the food and......" She stoped and one of her wolf like ears twiched."Jesse's waking up early again better shut the shades."
"Right see you later." We all watched her leve with the corps and then returned to our buisnes.
"Guies help me put the door back up before Jesse gets up hear. Marrion Jesse sleepes in the basement could you go tell him not to come up for a little wile?"
"Yea sure. Wear is the basement?"
"Down the hall fith door to the right thers a stair case thet leedes to the basement. When ther's a fork in the stairs go rigt and you'll end up in Jesse's room, and beware it's kind of creppy."
"Okay thanks."
I nearlly got lost finding my way to Jesse's room but I found it. I knocked on the door.
"Jesse? I'm comming in Okay?" I slowly oppened the door and enterd the room.
Creappy was a big understatement. His room was beond creappy it was down right scarry.Espeshaly the cophen at the far corner of the room that was slowly oppening.
"Hello Marrion." Jesse said siting up in the cophen."Is everything allright?"
"Yea."I answerd."We had a visitor who broke doun the door and cossed Hender to go "Jurane" and we had Karine come and get the corps. She said you wer stirring and Hender told me to come doun and keep you company wile they fix the door and close the curtans."
"Oh.Okay. So You saw Jurane Hender? Scarry right?"
"I actually think I think this room is scarryer."
"Sorry. I'm a vampire I like dark things and I sleep in a cophen."
"I understand."
"Hey! Marrion ,Jesse you can come up now!!" Hender yelled practecly shaking the hous.
"That is Hender's battle cry verry loud." Jesse said uncovering his ears. We laghed for a little wile and then we went up sairs.


Chapter 10 A Weard Site

"I'm hungry."Jesse said for about the hundrenth time that morning. We all moaned at the same time stoping what we wer doing, wich was nothing.
"Jesse." Karn said really anoyed like the rest of us."If you're hungry then feed allredy."
"Okay."Jesse returned sruging. He stood up and looked at Hender.
"Hurry up."Hender said continuing the book he was reading. Jesse then unfureld demonick wings with a ten-foot wing span.
"Wow."I said in aw. Jesse looked back at me with a smile reveling long sharp fangs. He then walked over and knelt next to Hender.Hender tillted his head a little wile Jesse moved his hair away from his neck and then Jesse bit his fangs into Henders neck.
"Okaaaaayyyy."I said comfused."Care to explane?" Hender rased a figer and pointed to Karn and Zeth.
"Hender dosn't let Jesse go into the city to feed so he lets him drink some of his blood." Zeth explaned looking away. Jesse backed away and folded his wings back in. He then sat doun next to me and wiped blood from his mouth.
"Human blood is better tasting but I need more." Jesse said lookig at me.
"You missed a spot."I said pointing to the edge of my lip. He quicly licked it away.
"Thanks."
"Hender didn't it hurt?"
"No."He answerd pulting his hand on his bloody neck."I'm used to it. Actually it didn't hurt the first time ether. I barely felt it."
"Yea."Jesse said lookig at him."That's because you coted your skin with bludy scales before I even bit you.My fangs wer nearly broken."
We all laghed at that fore quite a long time.
"So do you drink from the others?"
"No. Hender has moor of a life force to feed off of."
"Okay."
"Hender did you go to the temple yet?"Zeth said taking a sip of coffy.
"No I will after this chapter."
"Temple?" I asced confused again.
"Yea I go ther twice a day to pray."
"Hender is verry religious."Zeth said working on a old wooden flute."That's why he never curses."
"Zeth what did you do to my flute?" Hender said leaning over Jesse and I to get it.
"Oh sorry it fell and I'm trying to fix it."Zeth said handing him the insterment.
"Well I can fix it better then you." Hender said looking at the flute. He then snaped his fingers over the flute.He put the flute to his lips and began to play. He played a smooth flowing tune that made me relax. Then I started to feel tired and I lened on Jesse's shoulder. Hender stoped playing and looked at me.I looked back and smiled.I sat up and yawned.
"That was the Marniona an ancent dragon lullaby.Sorry I didn't mean to put you to sleep." Hender sort of chucled the last line.
"It's okay. I thought it was pretty. "
"It didn't bore you?"
"No I liked it.I've never herd annything like it."
"Good becaus I suck Marniona it sounded nothing like it."That made me giggle.
"It was still very nice."
"Thank you. Now I had better go to the temple. Would you like to come Marrion?"
"Yes please."
Hender led me to a smaller building about a mile away from the house. Even thogh it was smaller then the main house it was big.Hender opened the doubble doors and enterd. He let me in and closed the doors behind me. The room was huge. It had insens burning and candles lit. Ther was a large statue of a beautiful bird that was surounded by a wide hoop of fire. Ther wer sacred sutras hanging on the walls and sealing.
"Marrion." It had been so quiet that Hender's voice made me jump.
"Yes?"
"Pleas try to be quiet whille you'r hear unless you're praying." I nodded.
He pult two cooshens over by the fire and bid me to sit. I went over to him. He did a little bow and went to his knees.I did the same.He then did a verry formal bow and I followed. He sat up and put his hands together and started praying. I did as he did.
"My great god Harenderson." Hender wisperd."Pleas welcome this stranger Marrion to this house and plese protect her. Help Karn continue to lern to control his other side.And plese forgive me for I have killd again this morning.Healp me to controle Jurane." Then Hender started to speek a diferent language fluently."Kerasu maserp melonka surn. prente hendocondas marino shitha ha nareku maledna curamata shiretsu." He then looked at me in a way that said If you want to pray for anny thing now's the time.
"Milord Harenderson."I repeated the name."Pleas healp me to figore out all the questins that I have and pleas forgive me for this intrusion into this house." Hender did another bow and so did I we stood up at the same time and left the shrine.
"You've impressd me."Hender said as we walked back to the house.
"What?"
"You see When I took Karn to the Shrine for the first time he was scared to pray for a year."
"Really?"
"Yea."
"Hender?"
"Yes?"
"What language wer you speaking back ther?"
"The language of the dragons."
"Really? It's a varry beautiful language."
"Woud you like me to teach you?"
"Woud you?"
"sure. Karn and the others never liked the idea of speaking the language."
"Why not?"
"I wouldn't teach them to cuss in dragon."
"They're little devils."
"Espesially Zeth."
"Yea."
"So do you know anny of the language? ,No I gess you wouldn't."
"Actually I know Two words."
"Really? What are they?"
"Well ones Jurane meaning anger and the other is Rooooorre!"
"Funny." I knew he really thought it was because he was laghing.

Chapter 11 A joy and a sorrow

It was late and I was getting tired but I did not want to sleep.I woried about entering Hender's dreems again.Ther was a vampire awake and I saw it feed. And the hole satins child thing is a little unnerving.
"Guys why don't you give Marrion a tour of the house? She is new hear." Hender said streching and heding towerd the door.
"Wear are you going Hender?" Zeth said standing up.
"I'm going for a flight."
"Why don't we go with you?" Karn said practekly leaping off the couch."It has been a long time. And I'm sure Marrion would love to come."
"Yes I would."I admited."But I can't fly."
"Nither can Zeth and I." Karn said"We fly on Hender's back.It's really cool."
"Well I guess we could. Marrion?" Hender asced.
"Sure."
"Okay then come on."
We all went out side and walked to a clearing in the middle of the wouds.
"Stay hear." Hender walked to the middle of the clearing and closed his eyes. Ther was a strong wind and smoke apeared and spun around Hender. Karn gave me a smile and continued to whatch.A small light apeared and Hender semed to flowt then he was comletle engulfed in the smoke and came out a hundred foot dragon.
"You reddy?" He asked with a smile. He layed doun and let Karn,Zeth,And I clime on. He then jumped up out of the canopy and took flight. Jesse came up beside us using his powerfull grey wings. I inhaled the fresh air that was blowing thrugh my hair. Jesse then did a lupdilupe and a log roll and keped on his back fore a while.
"Hold on."Hender said then did a dive strate toward the ground then he pointed his nose up and barrly skined the collerfull leves of the oak trees. Then he went strait up and did a loopdiloop of his own. We wer all laghing as we flew thrugh the sky. Without thinking I opened my arms and held them out to my sides like wings.
"Hender!"Karn yelled ."Now!" Then without worning Hender jolted down and moved out from under us leving us to fall.He then flew above us and then we landed ontop of him with a small thud.I culdn't help but laugh at the suden thrill.I wanted this never to end or at least continue for a long time, but that was to mutch to ask for.Ther was a suden whoosh of air and the sound of a crossbow shooting. Hender let out a suden rore of pain.I looked over the side to see an arow ten times my size stuck in Hender's chest. I looked even further down to see a giant cross bow with operatores pointing at us.Hender grunted and turned back toward the clearing.
"Karn,Zeth jump into the trees."Hender comanded."Jesse get Marrion off of me."Karn and Zeth slid of of his back and into the trees and Jesse flew over and picked me up. Hender then turned to his side and fell into the forest making dust and debree fly everywear. Jesse kept on flying untill the dust cleard and we saw Hender laying there, eyes closed, and bleeding.
"Hender!!"Jesse and I yelled at the same time.Jesse then flew in and landed wear the trees had colapsed.Karn and Zeth came running into the clearing.We all went to Hender's side. The injorie was realy bad and the arow was in deep.
"Hender."I said horofide.
"You four get back to the house."Hender groaned."People are coming hear. Don't let them find you."
"No."Karn said patting Hender's head."We won't leve you."
"Go."
"I won't."
"Go now!!" Hender swated a razer sharp claw at Karn tearing his shirt."Go all of you.Go."He used his tail and pushed us into the trees. We then herd the yelles of people from the city and then saw the light of the flashlights.
"Marrion up hear."Jesse said from the top of a tree.I climed up with the others and whatched what was happening. Alot of people were coming thrugh the forest and they all stoped by Hender.
"I can't belive it."Said a large man who I recognised as a clerk frome a local stoor."It's a dragon.A real dragon."He then walked up to Hender and stoped by his face."It's okay boy."He said rubing Hender's mussle."We won't hurt you.we'll take kare of you."
"Wear will we take it?"Asked a woman."We don't have back yards big enogh."
"We'll take it to the zoo.Kids should see this, go get the toa truck."The woman knodded and left."Okay I need srong peolpe."The man said sitting by Hender and checking his wound.The men came over to him."We need to pull the arow out so grab it."They all went and grabed the arow."Okay on three.One.Two.Three."They puled hard removing the arow and Hender rored out in pain and snaped at the men."Woa boy."Said the clurk."Easy now.We had to remove it."Hender lade back doun but was verry tense.But then he jumped back up due to the puttering of the tou truck.
"Boy."The man said rubing Hender on the neck."I need you to clime on to the truck....." Right after he said it Hender roled onto his feet and stumbled onto the truck.He layed doun curling his taile in around him and folding in his wings so that he could fit.Then they all went off to put the beautifull dragon in a cage.
