Well, I can't say this is a rant, so my journal name has just gone topsy turvy, and most likely in the negative direction. Now, I believe I shall begin:
I made an amazing observation today.
The dynamics between the male and female species concerning greetings is very different. Any of you who have noticed can agree and give me a flat out, "Duh. You didn't know that?" I do know that. I know it perfectly well, in fact. As girls seem more bold with their greetings with a "hi" or call down the hallway, a male usually gives a nod to his associates and classmates. I have discovered something else; something more interesting.
They punch each other.
Today, walking down the hallway to the 400's wing of the school building I attend, I observed many males in their zone; and as I passed, I witnessed nearly fourteen punches to the arms and/or back area. I am perplexed by this greeting; why inflict bodily harm to give someone a nice "hello"?
That is, essentially, the difference between the female greeting and the male greeting. A female is tender in her acknowledgment of her friend, while a male displays his noticing in a much more rough manner. Males, I have noticed, often feign a macho image to either a) keep a reputation around the school and the ears of other males or b) attract a female. This greeting is a way to say they are "tough" and "manly". Some sort of mating call, perhaps?
xd
That was completely a joke, but still a rather important note to take. I have no idea why I have gone so long without noticing this major fact in the functioning of the male personality, but I can see it really says a lot about that specific person. I know males who don't partake in this sort of greeting, the weird punch to the shoulder to give them a head's up, but those who do seem to take it as a male code. It makes me wonder just what else belongs to the male code; scratching inappropriate places at inappropriate times? Completely lacking sentimentality when certain situations arise? Goofing off and being the typical "male" self?
I like males, if you get the sway that I'm trying to dissect them to a point where they are unappealing. It's just a few of those things a girl often wonders about; or what I wonder about. I'm certain males often contemplate why we females spend so much time on hair, make up, and why we're just downright bitches when we reach our "time of the month".
We're different, and that's all that matters; for better and for worse. I suppose I'll conclude this little observation with that little twist. Perhaps next time I'll rant about my life; for now I'll stick to a musing.
