I close my eyes and part my lips
To swallow absinthe nepenthe.
I chose the path of Romeo
And his deadly dram.
The poison flows like sweet water
As my throat burns and my head throbs
But I'm starting to forget
Thanks to absinthe nepenthe
Colors merge and shades fade
Before my staring blank eyes.
Voices whisper faceless omens
To ears that refuse to listen
With lungs that fill with wistful breath
Choking on absinthe nepenthe
Stabbing pain finally blurs
As the icy liqour trickles cooly down
Ice clinks in the frosted glass
I've almost forgotten why I poured it
Perhaps tomorrow I will remember you
And resort back to
My bottle of absinthe nepenthe.
