I'm a simple 11th grader with tons of friends but where are the true ones? It's true what they say, time goes by so fast and noone ever notices. I think back to when I was in 1st grade. I think about my first friends, my first true friends. As I grew up, so did they and everything began changing. You never notice at first, but when you open your eyes, they're gone, you don't know them anymore.
I remember my first group of friends and how some began distancing themselves from us and how others joined. It happened to me around 6th grade, all because my friends and I landed on different class rooms and they met new students. But that's just kid stuff, the real rift occurs in High School.
I always laughed whenever someone would warn me about my friends. They would call it "The Great Drifting Away." I would just laugh and call them wierdos. But karma always has a way of shoving everything you do or say up your.....
It was tough in the beginning, especially for me. But I could tell that other people were affected as well. It's been 3 years since I began high school and still I notice how we all drift apart. It gets to the point where I can't even relate to them anymore.
I musn't blame them though. I changed as well as they have. Even my father said I never smile like I used to before. Maybe that got on my friend's nerves as well? o.O?
I can count my close friends with my fingers and there will still be some fingers left. It's sometimes better though but that's beside the point. I don't want to turn this into an after school special but I think it's very important to cherish the time you have with the people around you, be it friend, enemy, family, ect. because in the end, everyone will drift apart. It's funny how a school assigment turned into this journal entry but anyway, Friends don't always last forever so cherish it!
