after coming from a walk, i was thinking about something and relaxing. i think i was about to play ps2. i heard a noise outside and while we have dogs, it didn't sound like dogs. sounded like people. so naturally, i got up to check. lo and behold, one big and one kinda small [but toned] guy were in my yard, looking at holes. both were thuggish in appearance. so i'm all "excuse me but wtf r u doin" and they look up all casual-like, then start mean-mugging. turns out they're searching for weed or money in existing small holes, as well as digging more.
after a small period of staring, i nod and go back inside, calling the police. i came back in the back room so they didn't get freaked out over my convo, but apparently they could still predict it because just as soon as i got off the phone, they bumrushed the [perpetually unlocked...] back door. i fended them off with my bamboo stick-- i always have it close by for pushing, poking, and striking various things-- but it was knocked out my hand and they went to get my brother, who'd gone to his room. threatened with him catching a knife or gunshot for my continued resistance, i stopped.
however, a moment later my brother'd pushed and surprised the big guy, which surprised the smaller guy. i picked up the bamboo stick and cracked it against the smaller guy's face as he was turning around, the impact and very audible hit slinging blood and 70% of the now-broken stick across the room. my lamenting a broken stick was alleviated by the sight of the skinny guy knocked out and bleeding profusely, the fact that sitting outside i had another stick twice the size of the one i just broke, and that the big guy was still on his feet though stunned. words and sticking the stub in his face had him ready to comply, and he was immediately tied up and put in that back room, in view of the door so i could see what he was doing.
my brother went walking around or something, and so did i. checking the house, adding collateral damage. on one of these passes, i looked into the hallway and saw the big guy moving, then stop. in the back of my mind, i knew he was working on the binding, but i kept going because the small one was stirring, and i wanted to put him in restraints.
i bent to pick up something, and the guy suddenly jumped on my back, putting me on my knees. seconds later, the big guy had drawn a knife, and the small one was trying to keep me in place. i called out to my brother for help, then rolled over to position the small guy between the knife and myself. something else broke, and the big guy was staggering again... i'm pretty sure it was a chair my brother picked up and attacked with. the knife was dropped and the small one lunged for it.
i was able to get my feet, and saw the small guy coming to me. he hesitated, then lunged. i blocked with a tan sao [thx, jeet kune do] and backfist'd the guy. then, i struck his arm and made him drop the knife. with him nursing his face, i was able to bend and pick up the knife.
"what the hell," he muttered while i suddenly remembered that we had cameras in the house. i considered them, then replied.
"thanks for giving me a reason to do this." and i stabbed him in the heart. he died immediately on my couch.
i think the big guy stayed in place because my brother was standing over him, and i still had a knife in my hand. also, sirens were approaching. i don't remember what happened after that, if anything; i woke up pretty soon after that.
