The next morning after the loss of another crystal, Issac woke up early, intending to get a jump start on the crystals. He stared at the map, looking at the bright red Xs marked on several well known areas of the continent. The closest area to them would be on the Western Graves. Somehow, he recalled the legends of the forbidden area. How the dead would rise from the graves and lash out their newly grown nails to drag down the poor souls who wandered too close. He sighed. Even though bits and pieces of his memories were coming back to him, he couldn't do anything to help regain the his memories.
Suddenly, he tensed, hearing footsteps behind him. He turned, and relaxed after seeing that it was only Mia, also fully prepped and holding her little Neko-chan plushie.
"I see you're ready to go.", she said, smoothing one of her bangs away from blocking her vision.
"Yeah,", he replied. "It looks like you're ready to go, too."
She nodded and sat down besides him. "You look troubled, Issac.", she said. "Am I right?"
Issac stayed silent for a moment then nodded in response. "Its my memories...", he explained. "Bits and pieces of them are coming back, but They don't really seem to be helping much. If I could remember back, I could be more useful for this mission."
She placed a hand on his shoulder. "You'll find a way," she said encouragingly. "The Issac I know can do it."
"But I don't know if I really am the Issac you know.", He replied. "I could be someone else entirely..."
She stayed silent as if considering the possibility, then shook her head. "No, I know you are the Issac I know and--" She stopped, realizing what she was about to say. Even after Issac's memory loss, she still couldn't admit her feelings for him. Issac, however, remained oblivious, much to her relief. "so where are we headed?", asked Kaos sleepily. He, Grey, and Emrys had just woken up, and packed.
Mia, who was also glad of the change in subject, answered. "I was just about to ask Issac that."
Grey looked down on the map that Issac held, and stared wide eyed at their closest location. "Great Scott!" He exclaimed. "You can't be serious that the Crystal Fragment is in THAT demented place!"
"Wait, what?!", asked Kaos in response. He looked over Grey's shoulder and saw it as well.
"By Ifrit's flames, you'd have to be insane to start looking in there.", he exclaimed.
"The Western Graves.", said Emrys grimly. "For some reason, I'm not that all surprised."
"Well obviously a place that evil has to have something creating it.", said Mia.
"Well...that kinda explains it.", said Issac.
"My word, I hope this map is wrong.", said Grey.
"If its been drawn out by the scholars of Cornelia's high court.", started Mia. "It won't have that high a chance of being wrong."
"Well then, we should get ready. We'll probably need holy crosses, holy water, and someone probably needs to learn the White Magic spell Holy."
"Kaos and I can go get equipment for deterring undead creatures.", said Grey.
"And Mia and I can go research the spell. Something like that won't be easy to find.", said Emrys.
"Then I'll stay here and take inventory on what we already have and prepare for warping.", Said Issac.
They all nodded in agreement and split up. Mia stayed back for a moment before leaving with Emrys. "See?", she said. "Even without most of your memory you can still help."
He smiled back. "its just Instinct, my dear." And they parted, for the day.
