Chapter 9
Orison laid down next to Eric on the floor, Kiori had the guest room, where he had tucked her in. Eric wasn't surprised that his cousin was wired up. Any blood, as long as it came from something other then a human body, could give you a sort of buzz. It was like what the mortals got from doing drugs, he thought. He couldn't understand how mortals had gotten mixed up with that stuff, the stuff that had been used to make potions.
" Hey, everything's going to be alright."
" Yeah, I know, its not him I'm worried about, its Callista, she was really tired, not at all like herself. She said it wasn't my fault, and I don't think it was, but I think something else is going on in this house. "
" Supernatural? " His cousin laughed. " You know we don't believe in that. "
" No, nothing like that, its just, oh I don't know. Well I suppose we ought to rest, at least. "
Orison was already resting and dreaming about Kiori, what adventures lay before them?
Callista tossed and turned in her sleep.
" I will get you, and when I do, I will make you pay! "
Suddenly little minions appeared, skipping around her, singing:
" Pay, he'll make you pay....."
Suddenly he got up in her face and yelled:
" With your sister's life! " An evil cackle followed.
Callista watched as her sister went crazy, she was screaming, screaming like a banshee.
" Get out of my head! Get out, get out! " Suddenly she turned on Callista. " Help me, Calli. "
" Jolean, don't do it, please don't do it. "
Jolean smiled then fell from the window, landing on the asphalt with a sickening splat, and Callista started to scream and cry.
" Jolean! " She woke up screaming, then she pushed the covers off her, and ran into Nikki's room.
A man stood there, his arms held out to the girl, who was cowering in the corner of the crib, he turned fire like eyes on Callista, he smiled at her.
" Ahh, the darling Callista, cares to make an appearance, wonderful. You will see what I have planned for my daughter. " He laughed.
She snatched Nikki from her crib, her eyes still on him. She would not take her eyes off him, no matter what he did. He reached out with long white fingers, she flinched as he ran them through her white/brown hair, he smiled.
" Eric Lestrants, I'm guessing, go ahead call him, we've tangled before. Oh and Orison's here too, oh and lets see, Kiori too, uh. Mmm, well I guess I'll pay my bride a visit. " He moved to the door with ease.
Kiori stood there, blocking his exit, she smiled at him.
" You were going to visit your bride, well I guess you came to the wrong house, then, uh? I will never be your bride! "
" Ahh, I see, well I'll just take my daughter and be going, come on Nikki, lets go. "
" I don't want to go with the bad man, Calli, don't make me go. " The young girl curled up in her arms.
" I won't make you, Nikki. "
" None of us will. " Orison stood at the door, too, his arm wrapped around Kiori's waist protectively.
" So its you, she wants well then. I'll see you all later, kids! "
With a flash he was gone, and the kids left, and Nikki began to cry. Calli took her downstairs and gave her a cookie.
" I thought he couldn't get in. " Kiori stated.
" Me too, Kiori. Kiori are you alright? "
" I don't feel so well, that’s all. Just dizzy. " Suddenly she fell back.
Fortunately Orison had fast reflexes and caught her, she gave him a weak smile, before she closed her eyes. He didn't shake her but carried her to her room, and laid her down, he kissed her lightly, and then left.
" How is she? " Eric asked.
" Fine, she'll be fine, should go to sleep just fine after her milk. I think I'll have Orison stay upstairs, and I'll stay with you, is that okay? "
" Huh, sure. "
" Its not that I think that he'll return I just think that Kiori will fill safer with Orison close to her. "
Eric watched as she took Nikki back upstairs, he crawled into bed, and later he felt Callista crawl in beside him. He placed an arm around her and she placed her head on his chest, listening to his heart beat, even though he had only her blood running through his body. He stroked her hair and she gave a small sigh.
" Thanks for staying here, Lestrants. " She whispered.
" No problem, have to protect you any way I can. I love you, Calli. "
" I love you too. " She fell asleep. **************************************************************
When Kiori woke up, she was surprised to see Nikki sitting on the edge of her bed, the young girls eyes were strange.
" You know he wants you, and he will get you, nothing will stop him from getting you, consider this a warning. "
" Nikki..." Kiori reached out to the girl, who sank into her arms, weeping.
" I don't like this, Ki, I really don't like it. "
" Shh, Nikki, its alright. " She stroked the young girl's hair back.
Orison stood in the door way, he smiled, she'd be a good mother. She looked up at him and smiled, Nikki turned and looked at him too, she ran into his arms and he picked her up. It was strange that the young girl would become so attached to him, when she had only known him for a day. Yet she laughed, when he tickled her, she wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed his cheek, he blushed.
" I like you, can I keep you? " She whispered.
" I'm sorry, but you can't keep him. He's mine. " Kiori smiled at both of them.
" Well, I can share. "
Both Orison and Kiori laughed, then they went downstairs. Nikki asked to be put down and went into the living room, where she jumped on the two sleeping people, well she thought they were sleeping.
" Come here, you little rascal. " Callista told her.
" Ori! " She cried out for help, as Calli and Eric tickled her.
" Hmm, should we help her, or them? "
" Them! " Kiori smiled.
Soon all five of them were laughing, the three girls so hard they were crying.
" If you are done fooling around, breakfast is ready. " Karen told them, she smiled.
Nikki ran to her Grandmother, and she was picked up.
" Mama, Ki said she'd share Ori with me. See, she's nice, can we trade Calli for her? "
" Hey! "
They all laughed, they seemed to have forgotten the events of the night before
