Chapter 7
Callista held Eric to her throat, they'd left the diner and were well secluded at the abandoned warehouse. It was Callista who had driven there Eric needed something. As he fed she relaxed a bit more, her mind went into day dream mode. She wandered about in her own mind, this made the fact that she could enter Eric's mind less threatened. If he wanted her to know things he would let her in, and if he didn't he would just block her. When he pulled away he kissed her blood stained throat, she gave a small moan, and he pulled her mouth to his. She kissed him with hot passionate kisses, everything forgotten until her alarm on her watch went off. She broke away from him, he swore, and then she turned to him.
" It isn't your fault, and we won't be late. We've got fifteen minutes to get back to school, besides it will only take ten minutes to get there. " She shifted his car into gear.

Kiori didn't pull away when Orison's fingers brushed back her hair, or when he kissed her neck. She didn't do anything, too stunned to do anything, as he fed. She started to feel a little faint and he put his arm under her so she wouldn't fall. As her sister came in , she smiled at her.
- Don't do anything, I don't want it to hurt. -
- Alright, but I hope you can explain this to mother, when we get home. -
- I'll think of something. Hey, maybe it will heal before she gets home, I know the tricks. - She smiled mentally and then sank into Orison's sub conscious.
He let her in, the tough guy act, was just that, an act. He wanted other's to think he was the best, a horrible person, to leave him alone. He was scared to love, for he had once, she didn't want to know.
- I want you to know, Kiori, what happened. -She didn't say anything, his first love had been a mortal, a beautiful girl with sunshine hair and emerald eyes, her laugh was golden and it couldn't be copied. They'd shared so much together, and yet when it had come time for her to chose..... she had chosen poorly and it had cost her everything, her baby and eventually her life.
-The baby, who was the baby? - She questioned.
- That baby would have been a beautiful girl, like her mother. Her name was Nikki and she's still alive, somewhere, she'd be two years old now. -
- Who's the father?-
- I do not know. - He whispered, she knew he was lying, then pulled away.
She placed a hand to her throat, it came away, no traces of blood. She took a quick glance in the mirror, no marks, she smiled.
" I heard what your sister said, she's nice. She won't tell your mother, I hope. "
" Course not, Maryanna wouldn't. "
" Sorry, I got carried away though, can you stand all right?" He took her arm.
" I think so. " She smiled and stood.
The witch blood pulsed through his veins like a wildfire spreads through a forest, but it was a good feeling. He smiled at her as she stood and she didn't wobble at all, in fact she placed her face inches from his, and tenderly kissed his lips.
" Thanks. " He whispered. " I needed that. "
" Me too, well the bells going to ring soon, we'd better get to class. "
" But where's Callista? " He asked looking around.
" I'm right behind you, lover boy, now lets get moving, Miss Serpens doesn't wait for everyone, she begins as soon as one person's in the classroom and the tardy bell rings. Catch ya, later, Kiori. "
Kiori nodded and smiled, she noticed two new wounds on Callista's throat, and quickly healed them with her will.

– What are friends for. -
When the two entered the room Miss Serpens wasn't anywhere to be found. She noticed that Pathon was standing there, staring at the mess, he didn't look well, not at all. His handsome face was pale, sickly pale, like white sheets. He looked up at them, and then moved, with fast speed, to the door, he locked it.
" No one is to enter this room. " He told them, then shifted into a snake form and slithered under the door.
" What the hell happened here? * Orison asked, just as the bell rang.
" I'm not sure, but let's sit. " She sat in the desk closest to what appeared to be Miss Serpens desk, but he couldn't tell, it was covered in papers.
" Alright. " He sat across from her.
She crossed her legs and then kicked them out a little, she appeared to be thinking and Orison didn't want to bother her. Then she spoke, in a light hearted voice.
" Your good for Kiori, she's been through a lot, since she lost her father. Her mother remarried last year and she has had a hard time dealing with it, you see he's not very nice. " She smiled. " So tell me about your family, I mean your parents. "
"Well., my dads a vampire and I'm an only child. He cared about me, but sometimes he doesn't come home at night, which is normal, hunting that kind of thing. "
She nodded, she understood, sometimes her father wouldn't be there at night, but then he was there in the morning. When she was little she always wondered why, now that she was older she understood.
" Sometimes he would take me hunting with him, we haven't done that since I was ten. Eric's family kind of became my second family, and home. That's pretty much why I'm here. "
" Well I'd be an only child if it wasn't for my younger sister. " She spoke softly.
Younger sister, Eric hadn't told him about her younger sister.
" Eric didn't see her the other night ,she was upstairs asleep. She looks like her mother, a lot like her mother, she has soft curly blonde hair, but soft blue eyes. "
He looked up at her, that was describing Joe lean to a *t', except the eyes, those eyes were the color of Deleterios's. He tried to shove the hideous eyes away, but couldn't.
" Yes, you were in love with my older sister and we have Nikki. " She took his hand in her's. " After school I go home, ya know, Nikki's normally awake at that time. You can come visit her, my parents won't mind. "
" What happened to Jolean? "
" She....she went crazy..... and died. " Callista's lip quivered, a tear slid down her cheek. " I miss her, sometimes, especially late at night, we use to sneak downstairs and watch late night movies. "
" I'm sorry.....what happened here? Where is Miss Serpens? "
It was the lady he had seen in the cafeteria, the one who had talked with the other changer.
" Oh, Miss Stach, we don't know, her brother was going to find her. How'd you get in, he locked the door. " Callista asked.
" I opened the door, are you sure you don't know where Miss Serpens is? "
" Yes, Mr. Kirts. "
No one knew that Miss Serpens was still in her classroom, and that she'd heard everything. She'd watched the Losteran witch tear apart her room, for what reason she didn't know. She hid in the form of a mouse, under the table, she'd told her brother, and he had shifted to get an authority. She watched as the children walked out with Kirts and Kinisia. She sighed and shifted back to her human form, she straightened her dress, why would they come after her? She still felt the aura's of the two vampires that had been in the room.
" Oh boy. "...She spoke softly.
When Callista opened the door she called out.
“Mom! Dad! I'm home, I brought Orison and Eric with me.”
" Calli! " Nikki came running from the living room, she hugged Callista's legs.
Callista picked her up and hugged her tight. She squealed in her arms. For a while Orison had to stay aware of what was happening, this child was an almost complete copy of Jolean, except for the eyes, the eyes were Deleterios's, those coal blue eyes had captured Jolean, in the deadliest way. Yet, on this girl, they were gorgeous, she looked nothing like her father.
" Eric, how are you?" Starion asked, coming in to the small hall way. " And you must be Orison."
" Yes, sir. " Orison shook his hand.
" Well, I made some chocolate chip cookies. "
" Oh, my favorite. Calli can you put me down please? "
Callista put her down and she raced to the kitchen, Calli could smell the chocolate chips and margarine, her mouth was starting to water. She licked her lips and turned to Eric, who smiled at her.
" She's a beautiful little girl. " Orison spoke. " She looks so much like her mother, it's unmistakable. "
" Yes, but she doesn't know, she never really knew her mother, and her father is not permitted to see her. Its strange though she's shown some of the characteristics of the Losteran witches, but nothing deadly. "Orison nodded, he knew that there were some Losteran witches that did not like to kill, like Jasmine, though he didn't like her, he could tell by her aura she was a good Losteran. He was startled when he felt a little hand in his. He looked down to see the little girl staring up at him.
" Cookie? " She held it up to him. " It's the best because my mommy has a secret ingredient that even I don't know. "
" Thanks. " He took the cookie from him. - For a two year old she does talk a lot.-
- So did Jolean. Sometimes she wouldn't shut up, especially after bedtime. Mom said once she came in the room and she was talking in her sleep! - She gave a small laugh. - Hey, lets go have a cookie, yours looks good, Orison. -
The family went into the kitchen and sat a the table, each grabbed a cookie, and Karen poured some of them a drink. When Eric and Orison accepted the drink, Callista denied.
" Come on Nikki, lets get some milk, it goes better with cookies then punch. "
" But I like punch! "
" You want to grow and have strong bones, don't you? " She watched the girl nod. " So you have to drink lots of milk and get your calcium. "
" Okay! " She put her hand in Callista's, who squeezed it gently.

Kiori sat at her desk facing her mirror, she brushed her hair back and put her fingers where the scars would have been, yet they were gone now. She smiled and remembered the delicate kisses he had placed on her neck. She gave a small sigh, and started to brush her hair back.
" What was that sigh for? "
" Nothing, what are you doing in here? " She turned on him.
" Why, can't I come see my lovely bride? "
" I'm not your bride, Deleterious, I never will be, ever. " She pulled away from his touch.
" Ah, but someday you will be mine, Kiori. " He whispered and kissed her neck.
" Stop that, I don't like it. " She pulled away.
" Well, I can see why, who bit you? " He asked.
" No one, I wouldn't let a leech bite me. "
" Then why do you have the markings of one that had been bitten. Ahh, you may be able to hide them from your mother, but not me, darling. "
" Old wounds. " She replied, calmly.
" Deleterious, when'd you get here? " Maryanna asked.
" Just a few minutes ago, but I'm leaving now. " He smiled at her. " Tell your sister she'd best be careful, or she could wind up hurt. "
Kiori just turned from him, and placed her eyes on the lawn as he walked along, he suddenly disappeared, but she wasn't surprised, after all she could do it too.
" Did he hurt you? " Maryanna asked.
" Only my pride, that's all. Do you think I could sneak out tonight?"
" Yeah, I'm coming with, I've got someone I need to check on.”
" Oh? "
" Just Miss Serpens, she said something about Pathon wanting to do a project on something to do with nursing. "
" Oh, well I want to come too, may I, then I'll be gone, I have to go see Callista. "
" Sure, I don't see why not. "
" Thanks, sis. " She hugged her older sister.
