*sigh* Man, I'm tired...
Reason being is because I've been working my a** off all week and here I am getting set for my first dinner theatre since I've been out of school. *is a graduate*
But, this wasn't the only play I've done. The truth is, I've actually been doing plays since '97. I then had an off-season after '99, then became active once more in the spring of '02. It was then play after play whenever one was posted on one of the pillars of Free State High. All I had to do was to notice it, stop dead in my tracks and look at it for a bit, then proceed to room 152 (aka the Black Box) when that day arrives.
But this time, this was different. I was doing some volunteer work around the Lawrence Community Theatre when I spotted the flyer for Murder At Cafe Noir. So, I signed up, auditioned and landed a spot as Simon Gutterman.
In case some of you don't know who he is, ladies and gentlemen...
Simon Gutterman (my charrie) is a shady British lawyer that got himself caught in a deal that went south.
Heh, heh... That's my guy, alright.
But man, oh man, has this week drained me physically and mentally. I had to stay in bed today because I was so tired!
*sighs again* And like I said, here I am getting set for what might be one of the biggest nights of my life since I graduated.
I'm nervous though...
Reason being is four out of the seven people I'm working with is 2 to 2.5, maybe even three times older than I am! The one guy who plays Richard Archer is almost in his 60's, for crissakes! And the another guy who plays Anthony Cairo, again in his 60's! Then there are two ladies, one of which looks like she's in her fourties and another one in her thirties! The only young actors/actresses I've seen were myself, and two others from KU, one a guy the other a girl. And some of these guys have been around the acting block a lot longer than I have, let me tell you. To be honest, I have never done a play before where some of the actors were older than I was. A LOT older. Most of the people I'd associate with are usually around my age, maybe a year or so younger. But this really changes everything.
Second reason is because (though I think I might have mentioned this) some of the actors/actresses are a lot higher class than I am. Some of them are from KU, (one has graduated there since 1969, and the others are waiting to graduate) one is on a student Visa from Germany (also at KU) and another has been in plays a lot longer than I have. The only odd ones out are myself, (I'm a high school grad) and this one guy who's playing Cairo. He, I believe works in construction, which has nothing to do with acting whatsoever. Well, in a way, it does, but that still doesn't alter the least in the fact that this guy is in his sixties!
*sighs again* Well, I guess that's it for my first journal post here on Gaia... I'll tell you how tonight's play went tomorrow.
