Amadahy came running into the room, her eyes alight with rage, muscles clenched in preparation for a fight, breath coming in ragged gasps from fleeing Raghnall's guards. She slammed the huge wooden door behind her and whirled around, only to come face-to-face with the prince, the boy she'd loved, and his father, a man no one had ever loved, a man no one ever would.
With a flick of his wrist, King Raghnall signaled two guards to seize Amadahy, who struggled violently for a moment, then, exhausted, hung limply from their vise-like grasp. She glanced up, locked eyes with Balint. "I...hate you," she managed, her voice low, dark, dangerous. "You are a spineless coward, and Poseidon forbid you ever come to rule Palresena."
"Silence, you ignorant beast," Raghnall said quietly, smirking slightly, enjoying this. "No one cares to hear you speak."
"And you...!" she continued as if the interruption had never occured, turning her blazing eyes on the king. "You are no better! Your people are suffering...!"
"My people are well-cared for," Raghnall said, cutting her off. "It is your kind who die and suffer...and no one cares about you insolent creatures. You're only good for one thing: experimentation. I won't kill you all until I have found, or rather, created, my ultimate weapon, and then I will wipe you out, and then I will wipe out the non-magic world, and I will rule! Raghnall, World Emperor! Savior of Magic!" His eyes blazed with excitement and anticipation.
"Rebellion blooms larger everyday," Amadahy persisted. "It won't be long before you're overthrown."
"I grow weary of your chatter." Raghnall rasied a hand, and waved it in the air in a dismissive manner. "Kill the Maiden; she's of no furthur use to me."
"Balint, you b*****d!" Amadahy yelled. "You'll just stand by and let this happen to me?"
The prince moved to reply, maybe even to order her release, but Raghnall held up a hand to silence him. "My dear, stupid animal...he is the one who told me of your presence." The king rose from his throne and walked over to Amadahy, whispering to her, "He is the one who turned you in. He sealed your fate."
Amadahy looked to Balint in horror. So her suspicions were true after all. "Damn you all to the deepest pits of hell," she hissed, glaring at Balint, who turned his face away, ignoring her presence. Amadahy then took up her fight once more, laying one of the guards out flat before Raghnall threw her against a wall with his mind, ordering more guards to carry her out of the castle and finish her off.
So this will be my end, she thought bitterly to herself. The prophecy..."backstabbing royalty and love destroyed"...it's all coming true... As she was carried out onto the expansive grounds of Raghnall's palace, she stared up at the sky, basked in the moon's glow, noting it would be the last time she ever got to see the stars. But there's still so much I haven't done, she said to herself silently, then smiled slightly. I will get out of this...I will return the Blood of the Ocean to Winchell...I will finish my quest...I...will...survive!
*~*
Just a little slice of Amadahy's story. I'll probably post more.
