WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!

	The Chase
	The Chase


She stalks the night alone and afraid, in a city where anyone can hide. She believes in nothing but where she is trying to go, and how to get there, but yet she shakes with a ready fear. People can see her walking through the streets, alone, small, and unsure. They peek out of their windows, with the lights off, so they cannot be seen, but she stands there in the lamp light, against the empty street. Being watched feels so weird, she crosses the street in several glances around her and runs when she hears the footsteps. Her breathing quickens as she reaches a more inhabited place, and the footsteps stop. She looks around her with wide eyes, knowing she was being followed. Her heart beats echo in her ears with her fear. Sweat breaks out on her cold pale face. The time of night as been forgotten. She begins to walk again down a darker street, unsure of going down there, but its the only way. The footsteps seem louder when the walls close in on her and she decides not to look back. She cannot hear anything but her heartbeat and those footsteps, but she tires. She must get to destination, but her fear is exhausting her body and soul. She begins to give up and falls in the street. No cars are near but she lays there on the concrete as it begins to rain. Not heavy yet, but light drops fall against her and the black pavement, as she lays face down on the tire torn road. One lamp lights her place. Every rain drop splashing up into the air when it hits solidity and down again around the figure laying on the road, forming a thin puddle. She moves her head so that she doesn't inhale water instead of oxygen and other poisons, but she has lost all hope. She is lost, and her nightmare is hunting her. There it sits in the darkest corner of the street, watching her immobile body on the glassy street. But no reflection shows in the repeatedly broken surface. The nightmare growls and laughs in the dark like a knife, and she falls into darkness with thanks to the rain. She is no longer scared. Her heart slows. That is my thought of the day.
