---(John Beifuss) A star is born in the new version of "The Karate Kid," but it's not young Jaden Smith, who, as the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, inherited stardom as if it were a gene.
No, I'm talking about Jaden's adversary in the movie, Wang Zhenwei, who takes the bully role originated by Billy Zabka in the 1984 original. I don't know if Wang is an actual martial artist, but he's a convincing fighter and fierce presence -- he could be the lead in an action movie titled "I Was a Teenage Jet Li."
---(unknown) This kid has never acted in another movie before but his debut in “Karate Kid (2010)” was a great debut. Because this was his debut, there’s not much information out there about him but I just had to mention him because I thought he did a wonderful job playing Cheng, the main bully. He didn’t have many lines, but his body language, facial expressions and actions said it all.
I’m not sure whether Zhenwei did his own stunts but if he did, they were amazing. I can see this kid being the next bad guy in another Kung Fu movie. Or maybe he’ll be the good guy next time. Whatever he would be, I know he would always be worthy of mention.
