So at first I promised myself that I would watch the Eurovision Song Contest. But after reading something from the news and searching a little on the internet, I changed my mind.
It actually seems kind of interesting this year. It's not all BOOM BOOM BOOM-pop music this year, there's all kinds of genres! An opera singer, a jazz mister, a Coldplay-ish rockband, an acapella group (that sadly didn't make it to the finals) and a boyband that is probably trying to get its fame back.
What I honestly don't like (and that is a HUGE understatement) is that there are five countries who paid to get into the finals immidiately. That means they didn't have to participate in the semi-finals and that they were allowed to bring a special peformance on a boat trip through Düsseldorf. They call them "the Big 5".
.... stare
Don't treat them like some kind of gods because they cheated to get into the finals. Please. It feels like all the other countries have already lost because of them.
You know what? It wouldn't surprise me if there's already one of the socalled "Big 5" that has paid to win the whole thing. But that's only my thinking.
And now don't go and send me cruel messages if you read this because I've heard all the songs of the "Big 5". I REALLY enjoyed Italy (the jazz artist) and France (the opera singer). I didn't like the UK (the boyband, Blue, who were famous when I was about ten years old). I also didn't like Spain and Germany. Spain because of the music and Germany because I don't think it's fair that the same winner as last year can participate again this year.
Then again: I really look forward to the result, I hope my predictions are wrong, and I really look forward to sit down with my family to watch some music and laugh and have a cozy time. It's been a while since we did that smile
