Crai was greeted by a bunch of heavily armed guards. He said goodbye and headed into the direction of Underground 15, the small underground town that was his home. He ran towards the gate, and the two guards on duty opened the door and let him in.
He ran down the three hundred twenty seven steps to the bottom. He counted every one. He walked towards his home. Artificial sun lights were all over the ceiling. Humanity may have been driven underground, but that didn't limit their creativity.
He walked towards his home, a small, but cozy, building. Marble walkways led up to his street, where he walked on the smooth rock. There were massive marble deposits all over the area near Underground 15.

Running through the forest, Crai hears a howl.
"Oh crud." He mumbles. He continues sprinting towards the manhole in the middle of the road that cut through the forest. He lifted up the manhole cover. Out of the sky, a wolfbat swoops down. The gray, hairy creature, a combination between vampire and werewolf, grabs Crai and carries him a few feet in the air. A spray of machinegun fire, and the wolfbat drops to the ground. Crai gets up slowly, testing himself for injuries. The wolfbat's ugly head lies a few feet away from the body. It has a snarl of defiance on its face. Dark red blood gently oozes out. Crai shudders and looks away.
"Hurry! There could be more!" The guard says, waving his arm.
Crai dashed over, says a quick thanks, and jumps into the manhole. The smell of the sewers disappeared almost 15 years ago, only a year after the vampires and werewolves showed themselves to the world. It was a year of running, fear, blood, and slavery. Half of the population was killed, enslaved, became food, or was made into a werewolf or vampire. Werewolves and vampires worked together to take over the world. Humanity retreated into the only place they could go. Underground.
