Abortion Question on Forums...
Granted I don't think anyone will read this, I spotted this topic ("Why Slavery, as well as Abortion, is Wrong" wink and decided to put in my opinion. I started typing, and next thing I knew, I had this long thing written. I was like, 'Awesome..". So I decided to post it here.. for no one to read but me at this rate lmao.. sweatdrop

Anyway, here is the first post of the topic, followed by what I said:

Martyr In Shining Armor
"I'm sure we can all agree, that slavery is wrong and imoral, and the reason for it is obvious; Slavery is wrong because it denies a human being his or her rights. but as we are all settled on the issue of slavery, we still are quite divided on the abortion debate, yet isn't abortion wrong for the same reasons? Slavery and Abortion both take the life of one human and consider it "inferior" to its self-proclaimed "owner". they both support the idea that the said owner has the right to use their "property" to their own personal benifit, at the expense of "their" property.

Now you could say what many pro-choicers say, "A fetus isn't a human, so it has no rights" which is completely ridiculous, and here's why; from a scientific stand point, spieceses are classified through DNA reading (i.e., two animals with certain DNA particles that are identical are of the same race) after knowing that, and knowing that a fetus's DNA is exactly identical to its DNA after birth, it's undenyable that a fetus is deffinately a human.

So honestly, how can we shun slavery yet support abortion?"

-----What I said-----

"Personally, I am for abortion. It is a per choice thing after all. Slavery is one person taking away the freedom from another person who can think and feel just as we can. Abortion on the other hand, though taking the easy way out of a stupid moment in your life (in certain cases), is not really the same. Sure it's a human, and sure it has 'rights', though it can not actually act on those like a slave could. When one is born, they have basic instincts, and the base knowledge that comes with birth. The rest is learned as time moves on. Starting with things as simple as recognizing their mothers voice and moving on to learn things such as spoken language. Essentially, the fetus is like a block of wet clay being prepared for molding.

I want to be clear I am not some 'pro-choicer' saying a fetus isn't a human. That is obvious bull s**t. The mother and father are human; it's not like they're gonna make an elephant. I am also not saying that the fetus is 'inferior' to a grown human. To say that is like saying that any young child or teen is inferior to a fully grown human. Now where the hell is the logic in that? My thought is that we should still have a choice to decide what to do with our lives. For some people that means having an abortion, for others that's going through with it anyway. Either way, it is not my business, nor anyone else to say that they can NOT do something other than you think is 'right' with something they technically created. Besides, what is really 'right'? My 'right' is no doubt different from your 'right'.

My psychology teacher asked my class a question about what is right by telling us two scenarios and asking us which one is the 'right' way to do it:

#1 - A professor is late for class and decides to walk across the lawn which has a sign that very clearly states 'Do Not Walk On Grass'. A student sees him and calls out to him and says that he is walking on the grass instead of the sidewalk. He replies "Right." and keeps on walking.

#2 - The same professor is late for class, and decides to walk across the grass, and a student stops him again. The difference this time is only his reply, in which he explains to the student that he is late for class before continuing on to class.

Which one is the right one?
Neither one, to say which is right is to already be wrong. What one thinks is right is merely a matter of opinion, and a human concept. So really, there is no right, only taboos.

Slavery was once not taboo, it was normal. It was a way of life. Had been since before America was founded. Egyptians for example used slaves. As mankind grew as a whole, they decided as a whole eventually that slavery just wasn't 'right'. The taboo was changed.

Abortion is just another type of taboo that is being debated over, as slavery once was. I have no doubt in my mind that it will be debated for a long time. The side that has the right evidence to sway those on the other side will emerge the victor and make the loser the new taboo. Until then, we as mankind will continue to grow and learn as a whole.

I suppose I could still say more on the subject, and cover certain points of my thoughts/opinions better so someone doesn't come along and blow it out of proportion just to make me look like an a**, but I have put in my two cents worth, as well as my opinion on the matter, which is frankly exactly what was asked for... So I hope this let someone think from a different view than has already been covered by others. ^^ "
