Someone said that when you create a piece of work, it's like you give birth to your child.
So this's my new son - David. Actually we can call David in short as Dave, but it resembles one of my friend's name.... so let's make it David.
The idea of David just came to my mind 2 days ago, while taking the tube back to my hall from uni. The space next to where I sat has 1 kid.... who was playing around so much. It's still fine since he's just there and didn't come to my area, but his naughty plays really attracted my eyes eventhough I didn't intend to look = =' ( and that's such a sore to the eyes)
Looking at him... I found that, despite the kid, his school's uniform was so cute~~~. Really gave out British's feeling! (of course... here's UK) That's where I started to think how the ideal British school boy should be. I imagined a boy in this school uniform, but replaced him with gentle, noble looked boy. (That's my image of British gentleman) Hmm... blonde hair, blue eyes... what a cute boy.( I started to have little boy's complex here) But by looking at that boy next to me again, I though that that's how the real boy is -lively, cheerful, and a bit naughty (not as much as him... please).
And that's how I came up with this illustratioin's project -David's serie. The concept is a boy who travels around in London, and we'll see the different of his reaction due to the place he is. Now I have ideas for Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, and Soho (China town). I want to draw for famous place like Oxford street too... but I really don't know what a young boy like him wants to do there? :S He's too young for shopping!
Why David? well...it's not because I couldn't find more beautiful name (could I?). I want to name him with very common British name, to represent that he's really just a normal boy which we can find in our life, not a wizard from somewhere. (Sorry for Harry Potter's fan. I really have nothing against him, I'm a fan of him too!) Besides, I found in the internet that the name 'David' has a meaning of 'beloved friend', good meaning than I expected, hahaha. But it really suits with my concept. So, we can say that David is a friend who'll lead you travel through London biggrin
I don't have time to do this David serie now...(guess it must be after I finish all work from my course). But here're my rough sketches + concept, just want to do something of it when my idea is still fresh razz
in the pic: u can see he's holding Flake ice cream... the one that they sell all over London but I haven't tried it yet. the evil smile when he wants to eat candies... but no money =.= (so he smiles to get money or directly ask for free candies from the store.... damn kid), and his ways of exploring London, climbing, playing around.
