This character is based off of an RP character I made for the game Call Of Cthulhu. All of this story is from various campaigns, and is owned by those of us in my group of friends who have written it.

Roland was born in the 1860's in Arkham, Massachusetts as Fredric Rolandson. He was an intelligent boy with a very creative mind. As he finished schooling, he started to write stories a lot. By the age of 19, a few of his stories were published, where he was given a full schollarship to Miskatonic University, one of the top colleges in the area. While working on a degree in psychology, he gained a fondness for the occult. He complete his bachelor's degree, and went on to earn a masters in the occult at the very same university. After earning that degree, he adopted the pen name Roland Jamison, an play on his late father's name, James Rolandson. He worte a few horror novels, and became a small hit in the surrounding areas. But it was a story about a mysterious book, said to hold some of the most powerful spell and rituals, that really made people recognize him.
This story was, as a matter of fact, a true story written from event he himself had been part of. Around the time he wrote the book, he met a peculiar man by the name of Oliver. He ran a detective company, and dealt with cases that most would turn away as fairy tales of works of a feverish or demented mind. Many of Roland's stories after that meeting were actually true tales taken from his work on cases with Oliver, Including one in which the entire town was overrun by spiders the size of men with human faces.
During one of the cases, Roland met a strange man named Jack Thomas who had claimed to have, as he put it, "rid himself of the problems of being mortal." Roland found this man intriguing and engaging, and would spend much of his free time having conversations with Jack. During one suck conversation, Jack had mentioned figuring out the last problem he was having and offered the gift of undeath to Roland. Roland declined the offer at the time, but would come back nearly a decade later and accept it.
Since then, Roland has lived his unlife like any normal person. He has his vices, although they are considerably less danger to him than they would be to any of the people around him. He walks with a cane because of an injury he sustained before he became undead, and constantly carries a pack of cigarettes and a flask of brandy that he had purchased nearly a century ago.

There is more to this than what I have here, but I haven't collected all of my thoughts, nor have we finished all of the campaigns.
