INNOCENT CHILD
Mother came home
From a long day of work
She sighed as she closed the door
She stopped dead in her tracks
And looked around
I stayed in my hiding place
Hoping she couldn't find me
Her footsteps were pounding
My heart beat in my ears
And I whispered
"Please keep me safe."
But the door swung open
And there she stood
Staring deeply at me with angered eyes
She grabbed my hair
And jerked me to my feet
Dragging me to the door
My screams didn't phase her
My hands were to weak to pry myself away
She stopped and looked down on me
"Mommy loves you." she said
And released her grip
So I could fall
I hit almost every stair
I don't remember how long i fell
But I stopped
My eyes srtuggled open
To see the light
But I wasn't dying
No such luck
Mother was cosing the door
Leaving me in pain
To face another day
Hiding bruises from everyone
I am the innocent child
That Mommy loved the most
