Okay, from now on I think Ill probably document my Nursing school and clinical experiences (unless something fantastic or out of the ordinary happens).

Today was my first day in one of the two hospitals Ill be doing clinicals in over the next quarter. The instructor I had for clinicals today was one of my 2 that I always see. She's the "colder" and harder to read one, but she's a great instructor and Im happy to have her. She helped me a lot today. Today and the next 3 days are sorta like a "pre-clinical" where we get oriented to the layout of the hospital and follow the CNA/Nurse we're assigned and do what they ask/allow us to do. Let me tell you, I am EXHAUSTED. I wasnt so nervous once things got rolling. The first lady I got a chance to see/help was really sweet. She was almost completely blind, old, and memory impaired, but she was really easy to care for. The second was a guy I helped the CNA give a bath to. She cut a lot of corners, which was kinda eh. I couldnt find my CNA person more than 3/4 of the time cause she was always hiding out somewhere or in a room without the red light on. Go figure. I got to measure input/output, do an AccuCheck, and lots of other basic skills like transferring to a chair, moving up in bed, changing sheets, taking vital signs, etc. that I learned during my first quarter. It was actually kinda fun, and it didnt bother me as much as I though it would. Having patients telling you repeatedly that youre doing a good job and that you'll make a great nurse really takes the edge off and gives you more confidence.
Overall, I think my first day ever working in the hospital or ANY medical field went really well. Im happy. I heavily considered dropping the program like so many of our original group, but I had my mother bitching at me and my friends were like "Why?". Its a lot of stress. It really really is. But finals are over, so Im looking forward to next Wednesday (first day of quarter break XD).
Tomorrow and Thursday Ill be at the other hospital with my other instructor and the same group of students. I dont know what to expect there, but if its anything like today Ill be happy. It's a bigger hospital, but it has a lot of construction running through it. I'll have to bring a lunch or head to the snack bar for lunch since theyre renovating the cafeteria. Note to self: They dont accept cards at the register where I went today, and I owe my friend a lunch.
My legs hurt and I want to sleeeeeeeep. I cant take a nap though because I wont be able to sleep tonight and get up at 5 tomorrow morning if I do D: I have to make dinner too v_v and my husband is SICK. God, of all times to get sick. DONT GET ME SICK PLZ. I have to be with patients and I want to actually have a nice rest during my quarter break.
This reminds me..what the hell is my high school up to? I asked them to send me an immunization record that I dont have on file and theyre being incompetent. They sent me the wrong thing the first time and I called the second time and that was 2 weeks ago. They still havent sent me anything and I NEED it to be able to work in the hospitals next quarter. I sure as hell dont wanna get dropped at this point. Ive spend too much money and too much time and have had too much stress to have it go to s**t because of my incompetent high school system.
Im rambling..
