Finding excitement in the simplest things.
Crappy Coworkers
Just a short entry on how this guy at work really bummed me out. There's nothing worse than working a job you hate. Except working a job you like and hearing other coworkers gripe about how much they hate it there. This guy has been causing trouble with management and other employees for a while. His last day is Wednesday, so we don't have much longer to put up with him. He likes to spread rumors about the managers; rumors that have been proven false. I work in a seperate section so luckily I don't have to put up with him a lot. He's got this weird passive agressive personality. One minute he's talking rather nicely with you, the next he'll make a very quite sarcastic comment.
Today I was changing the meats onto clean trays while he was transferring the salads to clean bowls. At first there was this tension, but then he said something about how cool the thundersnow was yesterday. We chit chat and the subject comes up about my roommate was so surprised there wasn't any church. He went on about how organized religion was so crappy, and how christians whorshipped men rather than God. He assumed I went to church every Sunday. He also seemed surprised when I told him I rarely went to church. I said I was interested in Catholicism and was reading Catholicism for Dummies. He professed to be a Buddist, but I think he doesn't really act like one. He's very self centered, and thinks his opinions are all that matters. He doesn't seem to like having his ideas questioned. He said that every resonably intellegent person went through a religious search phase, so I felt a little better about him assuming I was a Holly Roller.
I complained that college students shouldn't complain about having to go to classes in bad weather, since when they get eal jobs, they'll have to show up no matter what the weather is like. He went through a list of jobs he had where if the weather was bad, then he didn't have to show up as long as someone else was there. I trumped him saying that since someone had to be there, there was still an obligation to show up.
Then he went and told me a rumor about my female head Deli manager and the General manager having an affair. I told him I couldn't see it happening. In fact, I'm sure I've heard this rumor before and someone from Bakery said it was false. He seemed in a surly mood afterward. As he was leaving two hours early, I asked him if he'd at least do his dishes. He said very quietly that no, he wasn't doing his dishes stare . Of course that meant I had to do them sad . Now I know why a lot of people dislike him. I'm so glad he' quitting biggrin !
I'll write about something more significant next time. There's nothing more boring than reading about someone gripe.
