It was a fine night in the forest of Maventes. The stars were shining above with no cloud in sight. The white moon was looming overhead, watching and guiding the travellers with it's haunting glow.
There, a muscular figure, was bending down to cleanse his angelic face in the cool, crystal-clear pool of water. This part of the forest was unknown to many. There were glowing mushrooms lighting the area, and fireflies lazily flew around the cresent-shaped lake.
The man let out a deep sigh of exhaustion, looking up to the starry sky, not knowing that he wasn't alone...
Not so far away was the silhouette of a slender man. His silver hair was more visible under the lunar light. His puppet friend was "taking a rest". Karasu was his name, and he continued down an unfamilar path. Though he was from the dark tribe, he did not have a sense in direction in the dark.
Stumbling and pricking himself by the coniferous leaves, he saw a clearing up ahead. As Karasu began to reach for the clearing, he tripped upon a glowing mushroom, which was unusually large, and broke several twigs and echoed sounds.
"OWW!"
As soon as the muscular man, Shou, heard the twigs snap, he turned around instantly. "Who is there?" he demanded. The golden-haired man had his rough hands on the hilt of his sword, ready to pull it out when the stranger made an attack.
There was a long silence before a response.
Looking miserable and twice -- no, ten times more exhausted than himself, emerged Karasu from the bushes. Twigs and leaves were stuck in his hair, and scarlet cuts colored his pale white skin. He groaned in pain.
"Karasu...?" asked Shou as he walked up to him. He was so sure it was him -- a friend from the enemy tribe. A friend that he had not seen in so many years.
But the vivacious young man that he had met during his journey wasn't anything like this tired and exhausted man, besides their silver hair and green eyes. But Shou was so sure that it was him!
Karasu took a few steps forward, limping a little bit. He wasn't in extreme pain or agony, but the fall had bruised him badly, and after he had fell, he had inhaled the essence of the glowing mushroom, which gave him a headache. Poor guy.
As he advanced towards the Shou, he began to search through his memory banks. "Where have I met this person...? He looks so familiar..." If he hadn't have inhaled the glowing mushroom, he would have known it was Shou right away, but his head felt light and fuzzy, it was difficult to concentrate.
"It started with.... an 'A'..... Ashita? Akito? Akio?" pondered Karasu as he unconsciously stepped closer and closer to Shou. "... Or did it start with an 'S'? Yes.. I'm sure it started with an S.... Shio? Sayu? Saya...?"
Eventually, Karasu's head bumped into Shou's hard chest. The blonde man stared at Karasu, who continued to drive his head through his chest lightly. He stopped him by holding his shoulders and looked into his cloudy emerald eyes. "Did you inhale a mushroom?" he asked with an eyebrow arched.
"Mushroom... mushroom... what's a mushroom?" asked Karasu drowsily. He was ready to fall into Shou's arms. The light tribe man knew exactly what to do. He dragged Karasu's body, and splashed some of the lake water onto his feminine face.
It took a while for Karasu to realize that he was being splashed with icy cold water, but reacted nonetheless with a jumping yowl followed by chattering teeth.
Shou smiled at his reaction. That was the Karasu he knew! "Karasu! It's so good to see you!" he hugged the slender man with his big strong arms. Strangely, Karasu felt very safe in his bear hug, though it crushed his lungs. "Shou!" he realized.
The two of them smiled and laughed, rejoicing from their meeting. "It's been years!" laughed Karasu with his eyes shining brightly. "Yes, I know!" chuckled Shou.
There was a moment of silence as they looked at eachother's faces, glad that they have finally met once more. This silence soon became awkward, and so they ripped eachother away for a moment, clearing their voices and looking somewhere else.
It was Shou who finally asked softly, "What are you doing here? This is part of the light tribe territory..." "I got lost and ended up here... I didn't know I have wondered this far off our territory..." chuckled Karasu with his infamous smirk.
The two laughed and patted eachother's backs like pals. They sat near the glittering pool together and watched the sky. As Karasu took the time to admire the sky, Shou complimented, "You've grown to be very beautiful, Karasu-kun." Karasu turned to Shou and smiled, "That's natural, ofcourse. You've grown very manly." The two laughed a little and watched the fireflies dance around the water.
"... How is life treating you, big guy?" asked Karasu, "No one's picking on you about your eating habits or anything, right?" "They still do, but I'm used to it," smiled Shou, "And how's your luck in getting any women?"
"Ugh... man-ladies... they are everywhere." shuddered the silver-head. They both laughed. Shou saw that Karasu was still cold from him splashing water at him earlier. He took off his cape and pulled it over Karasu's head. "Better?" he asked. Karasu looked at Shou and thanked him.
The night was quite chilly, but Shou tried not to show it. Unfortunately for him, his act wasn't working out so well. Karasu offered him to share the cape. Shou blushed and looked away. "I-I mean as friends! I mean, come on, you know that I'm not that kind of person...." Karasu quickly began to blush aswell, feeling that he wasn't making any sense.
"R-right... just as friends... there's nothing wrong with that..." said Shou, uncertain, but he did want to keep himself warm. The two were snug together, sharing the cape.
The sleeping spell began to fall upon Karasu as his head slowly began to nod to sleep. He woke up with a snort, when he saw that he was leaning his silver head on Shou's shoulder. It was quite warm. Shou smiled at him and replied, "Go ahead." Shyly, but grateful, Karasu leaned his head gently onto Shou's shoulder. He closed his eyes and began to sleep soundly.
Shou felt the gentle breathing from Karasu. He felt his face turn red. Alot of blushing tonight, he thought. He too, soon became sleepy from fatigue. Shou placed Karasu carefully down to the grass, and pulled up the cape.
He then heard Karasu groan, "Okasaan...." grabbing a lock of Shou's golden hair and pulling it close to him. It was an unconscious move, but he moved up closer to Karasu and kissed his head lightly. Karasu smiled in his sleep.
