Chapter 1

The cold, night wind sliced through Kyato’s cloak as he looked up at the large building ahead.
This is the place...’ He thought solemnly to himself as he walked into the brightly lit lobby. The lobby was scarcely decorated, with chairs and couches in different places around the room on the intricate carpet designs. The main desk had a large computer on one side, a young brown haired adult working on it.
“May I help you sir?”
Kyato looked around. “I need to find out about staying here.” he replied, resting his arms on the desk’s counter.
She typed quickly then replied, “there is a room open, lucky for you. Your name please?”
“Kyato Akiyashima,” he replied again.
The attendants look changed slightly, but then returned to the state it was in. “Room 665. Fifth floor.” she handed him the card key nervously.
Kyato took the card key puzzled.’What’s her problem?’ He asked himself as he stepped into the elevator on the other side of the room.
After arriving on the fifth floor, he found his room’s door and pushed the key into the slot. The door clicked open and he flicked the lights on. The room was pretty basic, a bed against the wall with a TV in front of it. A chair in the corner of the room also facing the TV, and a glass sliding door leading out to a porch. Above it was a painting of a calm landscape of mountains. ‘Better than nothing I guess...’
The rooms lights went off suddenly, darkness surrounding him. “s**t...” Kyato cursed aloud. An eire glow fell over the room, emanating from a glowing pentagram in the middle of the floor.
Kyato blankly stared at it.“What in all hells?” he said out loud again as a form started to shape in the middle of it.
The lights flickered for a moment, then turned on again, revealing the figures. Two kids in black robes stood in the middle of the pentagram with a bag over their shoulders.
“Whoops...” one said, his hair black and ruffled, a sharp contrast to the others blonde and matted hair.
Kyato felt a vein twitch in his eye. “Who the hell do you think you are?”
Before they could answer, Kyato heard a voice shout from behind him, “THERE you are Im gonna kill you ” a girl of about his age dashed into the room and pushed Kyato to the side.
“Uh-oh ” The other child said. In an instant they vanished in a plume of smoke.
“Damn those kids. One day I’ll get them, one-“
”Ahem.” Kyato cleared his throat. The girl turned to face him.
“Oh, hi Sorry about that. Name’s Rynoa, Ryn for short.” the girl bowed slightly, her long brown hair flowed to her mid-back, and wisps of it fell over her face when she bowed. Her green eyes sparkled with sincerity through her small wire-rimmed glasses. Brushing off the moment, Kyato spoke once again.
“Uh...hi...My name’s Kyato. Nice to meet you I guess...”
She smiled warmly at him. “Did they give you any trouble?”
“Who?”
“The kids.”
“Oh. no.”
“You don’t talk much do you?”
“How’d ya guess?”
She frowned a little bit. “Well, if you need anything, im just across the hall Just ring the bell ” she walked out of the room and waved.
“Um....okay...bye?” Kyato shut the door and sighed. ‘Odd one...’ He walked to his bed and collapsed in it, falling asleep.
