Hiya! I just wanted to do something a little special, and somewhat out of the ordinary. Since I can't find much time to draw, I've decided to actually write a bit. This is one character that I've come up with recently, and this exceprt is a small important bit on his past.
Although the rain fell heavily, and without grace, it did little to wash the pain away. Deep down inside, he knew that he had just lost the closest thing he had had to family. He didn't know why they harassed him, disrespected him, and murdered him. His Foster Father, Jim, hadn't done anything wrong. So was Mat suppost to assume he was in the wrong place at the wrong time?
It was suppost to be a quick shopping trip. Go to the store before the storm came, and get home. Of course, it didn't end the way they thought it would. At least, not in the way Mat thought it would.
Two men. Both armed with machine guns tried to rob the store. They knew it would take the police too long to arrive. They knew if they didn't give their money to them, they would die. They knew if they did do something, they would die. A lose, lose, situation. And, on the worst possible day.
Father's Day.
Of course, Jim wasn't about to give up his savings for these men....so he tackled one to the ground, and told Mat to run away, and forget him. But Mat loved his father, and wouldn't leave him. So all the poor boy did, was watch his father die.
Bullets, mixed with blood, and cries of agony, filled Matthew's heart. They shot him....at least sixty times, his bullet riddled body clinging to the ground like a ragdoll. It didn't have to end this way, Mat knew, but it did, and there was nothing he, or anyone else could've done to change that.
But Mat was as determined as his father was. Once the police came, and the robbers got away, Mat found himself in a Child Care center. There, he spent most of his life, untill he was adopted by a woman named Lyndia. She was of Japenese decent, and she voluntarily took cusstody over Mat.
Over the next seven years, Mat lived in Tokyo Japan, and started to absorb the culture, and dilect. He learned the customs, and loved his new family very deeply.
However......the pain was still there.
His father's body, lying there on the floor, full of lead, and the thick scent of dried blood filling the air. No matter how far he traveled, it was still ther in his mind, like a special movie that would replay in his head, without his control.
Once Mat adressed his neww family about his loss, they understood his sorrow, and decided to train him in basic martial arts, and try to quell the anger, and frustration within him. But they knew, that Mat wanted something other than peace. Something much deeper. Hidden deep within his kindred heart, and soul, was something much more demanding.
Mat wanted revenge. Pure and simple. And when he heard that the two very men who killed his father were in town, he couldn't wait to reintroduce himself.
He grabbed a heavy jacket, and a old stage mask, and a thick baseball bat, and made his way into the city of Tokyo. It wasn't long before he found the very men who killed his father, eating away happily, simply figuring the law wouldn't find them here.
Mat entered the resturant, and started a violent fight. In the end, the police sorted out the mess, and found the two criminals, and connected them with the assassination of Jim Martinson. They were both placed in jail, and Mat never heard from them again. Not that he wanted to anyway.
The boy was heavily scolded for his actions, but the family knew he was somewhat right. If he hadn't confronted the murders, they would continue to roam the area, killing innoncents all over the world. This was another reason for Matthew's actions.
He knew that more childern, like himself, had lost a loved one becuase of someone elses evil, and misdeeds. And the police, wouldn't always catch them. And the very children whould never see any justice done for their own lossess. So Mat kept the jacket, the mask, and the bat.
Thus, Shadow was born. ninja Using his knew found knowledge, the young man whould now patrol the streets of Tokyo, taking care of any minor buisness, the feds couldn't.
But now, as the rain pounds on his lowly figure, as he stands outside a buisness building alone. Alone becuase he couldn't react fast enough. Alone because he couldn't assist his father.
Alone, because he failed the one family he had failed Jim.
