“Eylon!” I shouted as loud as I could, panic taking over me. No answer. “Eylon!” I tried again. No answer. “Eylon!” I called one last time. No answer this time either. I turned to Maxx. “They took Eylon, didn’t they?” I asked.
“Yeah.” He sighed.
I crashed onto the ground. “Why?” Tears were rolling down my face. “Why? Why would they take Eylon?” My face was on the ground by now. I cried so hard and so long, I lost track of time. She was my best friend. I felt like I lost a piece of my soul and it wouldn’t come back. After a few minutes, Maxx took my hand and pulled my off the ground.
“Crying isn’t going to bring her back.” Maxx said.
“B-But-” I started, but was cut off. Maxx pulled me into a hug with his strong arms around me. I put my head on his shoulder, and he squeezed me tighter. He held me until I was ready to face the world again.
When I started to look around again, I noticed something on the ground. I walked over to it with caution. It was a piece of paper folded up. As I unfolded it, I called Maxx over to see it. My eyes grew wide as I read it.
By now, you should know that we have your friend, Eylon. If you wish to ever see her again, you will come to our headquarters and bring the dragon with you.
That was all it said. My heart pounded as hard as a hammer on nails. They had Eylon, and wanted me to bring a dragon. I showed it to Maxx, and he frowned. “They want a dragon, Maxx. A dragon! Where am I going to find a dragon?” I questioned.
“I know where to get a dragon.” Maxx softly replied.
Hope filled my heart. I could save Eylon. “Where can we get a dragon?” I asked with a little too much enthusiasm.
“You don’t have to go anywhere.” He turned away as he said this.
“What do you mean, Maxx?” I was extremely confused.
“Because….” He paused. “Because… I am a dragon.”
