As I reached consciousness again, I noticed I wasn’t tied to the tree anymore. Was it all a dream? I wondered. Then, memories of Zaku and the mysterious savior flooded back to me. Who was he? I thought. I wasn’t tied to a tree, but I also wasn’t on the ground. I was moving. I was being carried. I opened my eyes just a slit to see who it was. My jaw dropped and my eyes almost popped out of my head.
Maxx. He was carrying me with his strong arms. He was looking forward so he didn’t see my expression. I couldn’t believe it. Maxx, the Maxx, who I had a crush on since childhood was carrying me. I felt like a burden, but truly, I was enjoying the ride too much. A sharp pain in my cheek snapped me out of my ridiculous dreams of me and him forever. I touched it soon realizing it was the cut from that guy, Zaku. By now, Maxx could feel me staring at him and looked down at me, helplessly riding in his arms. He stared at me for a moment, but then flashed me one of his gentle smiles. I felt my face go bright red. I felt so foolish. It would never work. I was a Fire Element Fighter, and we had strict rules. Due to the power Fire Element Fighters have, we aren’t allowed to mix genes with Element Fighters that aren’t fire either. It’s to keep the blood pure. The head of the Fire Element Fighters made that as well as other rules, and had the power to back it up. None of the other Element Fighter had that rule. They could marry whomever they wished.
“Can you walk?” Maxx asked, jolting me out of my thoughts. I nodded, so he helped me stand on my own.
“Um, Maxx, what happened after a fell unconscious?” I asked him.
“Nothing happened.” He replied, not even glancing in my direction. I guess he didn’t want to talk about.
Dragon. That strange voice whispered in my head. Dragon. It said again. That voice was really creeping me out. It was like someone else was in my head. Then I remembered. Some guy shouted “Dragon!” before I fainted. Dragon. That strange voice whispered in my ear like a ghost.
“Are you a dragon?” I blurted. At this, he just stared at me with cold eyes. I had never seen him like this before. His eyes were as cold as a blizzard in Antarctica.
“Don’t ask stupid questions.” He said in a voice cold even to freeze a volcano. This side of him scared me a little. He always seemed like fun and games.
“Um, Maxx, before I fainted, some guy said something about getting a girl.” I remarked as we walked along, trying to lighten the mood.
“That’s why we’re walking back to the school. I think I know who they took.” Maxx explained his voice a little happier.
“Who could they possible want?” I asked with concern.
“You’ll see.” Maxx said as we exited the forest and came to the front of the school.
But, actually, who I didn’t see was Eylon.
