Bitter Chains
What life are these Bitter Chains bound too,
Why every step a halting march too and fro,
The weight anchored at my neck and round about my feet,
It makes every inch a miles equal by lenght and breath,
Every good a victory and a year or two of brisk upward travel,
Then a defeat a decade on knees far and on ground unleveled,
And then a kindness from all who shower me with thier love,
The light that my day worth while and days of late,
Then sinks the Bitter Chains pulling me below the ocean of despair,
Which I every day fight to loose and my mind and soul free of that fate,
Fight on I do at them every night and day,
Till free one day Ill find my freedom made,
When finally I do loose these Bitter Chains...
