Being ready to bolt and leave both Madame Marlane and Sr. Grant face the Golum and madame Marlane starts to speak to it.

Golum, Explantius Tasken Presentus? (Golum, explain the present task?)

Having trying speaking in an older dialect of English to the Golum it faced them both again and replied.

"Golum Hasan Tasken Excavtions Aquafirnum Lesta Aquafirnum Desertus Presentius" it said in slow monosyllables. (Golum, Has task of excavating cistern so it wont dry out)

Madame nodded to Sr. Grant in a sort of acknowledging way meaning "Its working"
once again tuning back to the Golum to address it.

"Tasken Lackin Inu Completionius Presentus?" (Why has the Task not been completed?) said Madame Marlane

The Golum seemed a bit more hurried and maybe agitated after a fashion but not physically towards Sr. Grant or Madame Marlane. "Golum Ist Completious Tasken, Golum Wilstm Awaiten Neou Tasken"
(Golum is done with Task, Golum will await New Task)

Madame Marlane and Sr. Grant looked a bit taken aback by this and thought "He was done with his task? and he just stopped and has been standing here for God knows how long?"

Being a bit saddened by the reply she spoke again to the Golum "Golum, Inu Statueius Placemtus Inu Aquafirnum Clocken Timexs?" (Golum stood in place in the cistern for how much time?)

The Golum spoke again in its slower more measured speaking "Golum Inu Statueius Placemtus Esct. Hunderus Eightys Fourtus Yeartus Und Therds Dayus" (Golum has stood in the cistern for 184 years and 3 days)

Madame Marlane and Sr. Grant could hardly believe that amout of time the Golum had been just standing there not having anything to complete or do, alone by itself.

"Lacken Inu Statueius Placemtus, Tasken Completus Persentus Nomurous?" said to the Golum. (Why in the cistern, Task is complete present now?)

The Golum in its slow tone replied "Nomurous Tasken Completeus, Nornus Task Actious" (Now Task is complete, nothing to do)
