--- In a world similar yet different than ours ---
A Archaeologist and her Assistant, look over a well worn document on the table in front of them.
Documentus Golumant Placementa
Translating to "Document Golum's Placements"
How has the translating for the full document been going Sr. Grant?
The Assistant Sr. Grant speaks up, "It has went well we have 90% of it plainly translated well enough top give a placement for one of the likely "Golum's" mentioned.
"Further more, we maybe able to locate it and see if it is still in working order, thought if this document is dated correctly it will be the oldest located and oldest still active Golum yet found."
The Archaeologist Madame "Marlane" the III smiled, "Good then we shall go and see if we can unearth a living piece of history then!" noting the location and the task to which the Golum had been put to do which will likely what it is still trying to accomplish now.
( Golum's often where put to a certain job, and since they where technically immortal often the job was a long tedious and life long job they would either finish in the future or break down and have to be replaced....which sadly often caused Golum's in general to be lost and forgotten as the original maker/ owner passed away or moved to another project.)
( *** Also Note: Golum's can exist and continue to move of its own accord as long as a few things still are in working order.
1) The enchanted item inside of them, which allow them to be a living being which can be any enchanted item. Thought often would be a inscribed object with said enchantment on it and how long the object lasted often would allow the golum to stay active for a long long period of time.
2) The oldest Golum's had the inscriptions on a tablet or clay file around thier necks or made a part of the inside of thier body, as the Golum might be made of clay and fired to be made to be stone, thus the tablet would be put inside and made a part of its inner skin when it was fired and made stone originally. )
Having made a note of the are and likely spot where the Golum still worked the Madame and Sr. Grant made preparations for the next day and gathered needed equipment into packs and had it staged on thier auto-mobiles leaded to them by the Historic Society as they had become all the new "Fad" in recent days.
------
The new day dawned and Madame got up and ready quickly after a nice shower and a couple scones for Breakfast she had her field clothes on and went in her packed auto-mobile and picked up SSSr. Grant and they went to the area and placement where the Golum was supposed to be.
"So we go to ...(Looks at Map) Bernard's Farms"" Sr. Grant said and looked to Madame "Marlane" as she drove.
"Yes, from what you translated and from what I can gather the Golum we are after is at the bottom of a very old cistern"
"A what?" said Sr. Grant looking puzzled.
'Oh, it was basically a water holding container often in the ground, below the surface of which and could be small and for one household or larger for a whole community to draw water from"
"Ah, that makes sense then, ...why is our Golum in the cistern then?" said a once again puzzled Sr. Grant
"Best guess is the Golum was lowered in and asked to en-large the cistern ages ago and then forgotten as it seems from what we know from the present owners "The Bernard's" the cistern in question dried up about 100 or so years ago and the people using it never came back to use it again."
"So, where here to see whats ever happened to the Golum down there I suppose" she nodded as they had arrived at the farm, pulling up to the farm house owned by Lady and Sir Bernard.
